Ignorance flag here, but: I think US festival culture is just fundamentally different. There is more emphasis on American rave culture, less emphasis on camping, more DJs, less permissive alcohol licenses. If you look at /r/festivals it's all videos of lasers and memes about tripping with the wrong wooks. Thom Yorke in a muddy field would probably be considered a bit tragic to a lot of people hyped for Bonnaroo and Coachella.

Tbf it's probably an improvement on Woodstock '99 and sunburnt nu-metal nuts trashing a for-profit festival held on the concrete of a US air force runway. But admittedly that's not hard.

I think I've figured it out and It's not good news.

Suprefan actually works for Glastonbury and they are preparing us for a less than vintage lineup so when we see it we think 'well at least it's not as bad as (insert awful American festival here)'

I have but the festival name writing they used is similar to Outside Lands in San Fran so I temporarily thought Hangout was much more downgraded than it was. They may carry the same promoter but couldn’t confirm that

My mind changes every day on this subject, but going to throw a shout and suggest Dua Lipa / Dave / Coldplay.

If Madonna has dropped out, is there the chance Coldplay would move sideways from a probable Saturday? I mean, I can't imagine Chris Martin will have plans outside of spending the week in Somerset.

To be fair, there were a lot of people saying she was headlining because the Mail said so. There's not been anything remotely concrete she was lined up.
