2024 Headliners

Would love to see Olivia, but I don’t think it’s likely she’d headline.

Surely Dua is a lock, then we’ve got P!nk/Madonna/Rihanna.

Assuming Emily was referring to Taylor when talking about a booking within the next five years, I think she’s 2025 at the earliest.

The third would surely be a band, which I’ve far less interest in. I dunno… The1975?

Foals might have a new album out? I know people think they’ve peaked and whatever - not unreasonably - but if the fest has secured two strong headliners for the other nights then they deserve to be in the frame IMO.

Nah their time has long been and gone and them accepting Other headliner last year was the final nail in the coffin. Could come back to sub the Pyramid again but that’s as high as they’re ever gonna play, but tbh I think they’ll be missing from Glastonbury for a while now after being pretty consistently present for the last few festivals.

I think the best we will get is Dua Lipa, Rihanna and Blur. But I feel Blur will see their 2009 as their moment. I think Olivier goes as a sub with Pulp though if they get both of those headliners then will be less need for them to need to put Olivier as sub and would probably choose a rapper or such like.

Just back from this years Glasto, and already planning the next one! I think Taylor Swift is a cert, but after that, who knows? Pink? Madonna? Rihanna? Could Beyoncé be an option? I also heard Spice Girls have been asked.

And I know Guns & Roses don't seem to have gone down so well this year, but Metallica did back in 2014, so I think AC/DC could be an option? Surely getting close to retirement, with just the PowerTrip festival announced since their last album came out. They do have wide-ranging appeal, and have also been mentioned...

after seeing Loyle Carner do West Holts, I've no doubt in my mind he's got what it takes to headline it all one day. definitely not next year, although selling out Wembley was impressive, and whether or not he'll get to that level I'm not sure but it would be well deserved

could see Dave next year with a new album

Dua - Dave - Rihanna/Coldplay/legacy act

then 2025 Taylor and Sam Fender locked in for me

Foo Fighters out

Wet Leg in (not headlining, of course, but a decent Pyramid slot I’d assume)

edit: oh wait I looked at the wrong dates - Foos very much not out.

Still don’t think it’ll be them mind, but those are some very convenient dates

Yeah, its hard to have to remember its final week of June right now.

Courtney Barnett also support. But I doubt she gets another headline slot.

Wet Leg better have LP2 finished already. Its either 3rd down Pyramid or Other sub I think.

Hmmm I’m torn on this one.

If Foos had done some tiny secret set in Woodsies or something this year I’d probably say those dates lock them in to headline ‘24… but they literally just played the Pyramid.

But on the other hand… if Foos want to headline and Emily + co. have a vacant slot, then it seems like a no brainer to just let them do it. Seems too soon, especially after this year, but  other headliners have come back after less time in the past, and they’re immensely popular so… I dunno.

I would be major overkill for them to be there, it's surprising though that they chose to return to do a secret sit this year with how their dates line up next year. Get the feeling his daughter is travelling with them too due to him continuing to spend so much time away.

I wonder how far in advance they get paid/the dollar figure is agreed to? Some of the pricier artists may not be possible I'm the current economy?

The standard is 10% in advance. Acts used to get more up front but now promoters  dont want to have to pry it back if theres a cancellation and such. Why would a "pricey" artist need to get their payment up front anyway if they got money to burn most likely. And what budget does Glasto have to pay headliners? They dont have the money, thats why everyone plays for pennies cause its the only way. The other thing is that since theres no radius clause those headliners can get their paycheck elsewhere by touring in the uk. Billie Eilish had 6 nights at The O2 when she headlined. Made more money off one date than whatever Glasto gave her. Kendrick probably lost money for his show since it was a true one off but he made up for it on his uk arena tour a few months later. The tough thing nowadays is production costs. The Pyramid itself is sort of limiting in what can be done and the fest isnt going to fork over big bucks to make something crazy happen either.

Booking Foo’s again so soon would probably be the safest and least imaginative Pyramid booking of all time.

Which they may feel they need to do with the other two headliners being (presumably) all out pop acts.

I’m still gonna go with it not being Foos for now though just because it would seem so odd having them show up on the Pyramid this year only for them to then be headlining next.
