AVALON.G
Just now, incident said: "Rehearsals can happen in advance" is the ultimate clutching at straws. Rehearsing a whole new show with a new set of choreography to fit into a vastly different space while simultaneously continuing to perform the tour show most nights is just asking for trouble. Someone will f**k up, get confused, or whatever on one show or the other. It ain't happening. But it's clear you're desperate to find any reason to cling on to this belief no matter how ludicrous it is, so I'll stop now. I'll be proven right sooner or later. Nah I cant stand her music and wouldnt watch her. I just don't think any of reasons you have given are reasons she wont headline. Loads of acts historically have made changes to there show to suit the Glastonbury stage in the past so I dont see why TS wouldnt. I have read and considered everything you have said and I dont think any of it has convinced me that she is not the most likely candidate to headline next year. JP1994
Am I the only one that can’t fathom the idea of Dua Lipa headlining? Could be the worst headliner in the history of the festival in my opinion. I’m in no way into current mainstream chart music but ‘get’ Taylor Swift/Rihanna due to their sheer colossal size. Dua Lipa’s music has nothing to it in my opinion. It annoys me when bands like Foals, QOTSA, Tame Impala have yet to headline the Pyramid with the sheer amount of talent and hard work they’ve put into their careers. I get Billie (Eilish) and Dua are popular but I feel they’ve not earned the right to headline.

Dua is 50x bigger than Foals ever were.

I'm not a mega Dua Lipa fan by any stretch but she's immensely popular, and she has actually 'paid her dues' so to speak by playing the festival before. She's done two early-afternoon John Peel slots in the past. It's not like she's been on the scene for five minutes and has been handed a headline slot. Benjsh
The current front runners to headline in 2024 is very underwhelming for my personal tastes I have to say. Can't imagine I'd go watch Coldplay again if they do it again. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, 1975 and Madonna do nothing for me at all. If I'm lucky enough to get a ticket, I can see myself missing all 3 Pyramid headliners for first time ever if the odds are to be believed that is. I have always done at least one when i have attended the festival.

Tame Impala deserve it based on what, the fact all his songs are 10 minutes long? It’s not like there’s a massive gap in critical acclaim between him and Dua, because there isn’t. She’ll smash it. Oddly specific number and plucked out of nowhere no doubt. Also anyone who performs chart music / pop music tends to be bigger than an indie band. This isn't new information. Of course Dua Lipa gets more listeners than Foals do but how many of those come from kids? Her music is no doubt very popular with primary school and high school kids. Fairly confident Foals don't appeal to many 8-16 year olds.

CaledonianGonzo
We know that Foals have done done f**k all to be promoted to a bigger slot than their Other Headline in 2022.

JonSnow
Haha god are we really having the Foals argument again. Obviously Foals, Queen of the Stone age and Tame Impala haven't been booked to headline the Pyramid stage because the field would be 50-70% empty

Also indie landfill is such a ridiculous term. Foals are a quality band who write their own songs, play instruments and are good live. However they don't come on stage with a giant horse, have a billion dancers and sing over a backing track so I can see why some folk would lose interest. 😉

CaledonianGonzo
New here? The 'write their own songs, play their own instruments' side of the debate lost the argument in the early noughties.

I'm no Dua Lipa fan, but I admire her work ethic tremendously. Nearly 400 shows played in 2016-2018. 97 last year. Even with all the usual pop video and radio play hype, she doesn't get enough credit for building a fan base by getting out there and performing. She totally deserves to be on that stage. Foals could just be on a bunch of Costa Coffee playlists for all we know tho. Likewise, Dua might just get lots more air play in your local neighbourhood pilates class, mind you 😆

Quark
Saw Dua Lipa at the O2 with Mrs Q last year. I'm not the biggest fan but I can say with a pretty reasonable level of confidence that she'd absolutely smash through a headline slot. MEGATRONICMEATWAGON
Foals on Other in 2022 looked amazing (wasn't there). It looked far better than either of Billie's or Macca's sets. Unfortunately, that's not what it's all about. It's about if your face fits as much as anything these days.
