And so says the American.

Are you seriously suggesting glastonbury footage should be paywalled? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick?

Why are Rihanna and Madonna any different to the many international megastars (plenty bigger than those 2) over the years when it comes to "pitching" them to play? They all know the deal when it comes to glastonbury the booking policy isn't a secret.

Erm... Glastonbury footage is paywalled. Last time I checked, it's £159 a year to access it... (bar the odd song on youtube, a fraction of what was recorded)

Not sure if having female members makes them a female headliner, but after their pyramid slot last year I don’t think Wolf Alice are too far off. Certainly headlining Other in next few years at least.

Their crowd wasn't that big last year. I thought it was a great set personally but was a little surprised with the turnout.

The BBC do monetize Glastonbury content outside of the UK - for example, they’ve licensed lots of the archive to a company called Stingray in the US who run Qello Concerts (an on-demand service that you can add to Prime Video, or use their own standalone app). Unfortunately sets only tend to show up on there at least 9 months after the fest, but at least there’s somewhere legal to watch them. Stingray occasionally sub-license them on - Peacock had a few sets like Miley Cyrus earlier in the year too.

No idea how much the BBC makes from them but it does happen.

Who exactly?

Madonna is the best selling female artist of all time, Rihanna is the second.

The only people who have played Glastonbury that are on that level are McCartney & Elton John. Both of whom are British & more likely to ‘understand’ what Glastonbury is.

Even discounting British acts, Jay Z, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Kanye, the Foos and Swifty were all a bigger deal when they were booked than Rihanna currently is

Taylor I will give you. The rest are not. Rihanna hasn’t toured for 7 years, when she returns it will be huge. Also, again, she’s the second highest selling female artist of all time, behind only Madonna.

She might be a huge deal now, but Beyoncé subbed other UK festivals the year she was booked for Glasto. She was also originally booked to sub Glasto, with Prince above her.

forget Taylor Swift, Madge, Rhianna.

GIVE ME LADY GAGA + Dave & Blur (or Pulp). Ticks all the boxes.

Dave, Gaga and Blur would be a great trio.

All kinda arbitrary but I reckon Rihanna on her comeback tour could be one of their biggest ever coups.

Taylor Swift when booked was far less hot of a property than she is right now. She'd been on a world tour every two years like clockwork up until that point, she was doing other festivals and her last tour had undersold.

Depends how bothered people are about the comeback. Seven years and counting without a hit that was more than just a feature on someone else’s track. That’s quite long in pop terms. Her last proper tour saw multiple dates binned for poor sales as well.

Everyone arguing against Taylor is daft, not because of the argument, but because of the stakes of arguing it. If she's booked the people who were right will be like "see you look stupid for saying it was impossible", but if she's not, those people can just say "I never said I was sure she'd play, just that it wasn't impossible", so you never get your "I was right" moment. Might as well just avoid the convo until we know either way.

Nah. It's win win. If I'm wrong and she is playing I'll be the first one to break out the champers.

I mean, she had the most watched Super Bowl half time show of all time literally this year. Rihanna’s still absolutely massive, and would be definitely one of the biggest bookings the festival has ever made.

Who cares. Her catalog doesnt need anything else. Gaga had her last solo number 1 back in 2018 but nobody is picking apart her justification to headline cause she has released another album and done a tour.  What about Oasis? Are they immune cause its a reunion? Pulp? Blur? Yeah.... if the artist is good, it doesnt matter. When did the Cure have a last #1 yet still headlined? Lol

Let’s not forget, Guns and Roses last had a top ten hit in the UK in 1994!

Ehhhh I’m not saying she wouldn’t headline. Of course she’d headline. Just not sure it’d be ‘biggest booking Glastonbury have ever had’ territory.
