Yep - looking at it, mid September 2021.

That September announcement was Paris for the original 25 June date

Moving that date to whatever date it is now was much later, I think it was first spotted on here around May / June 2022

If memory serves, we picked up on the fact it had been moved shortly after this year's festival

Who knows, GNR could have just been an act on the fringe who had approached the festival during the COVID years. Nothing serious being put into place until a planned headliner didn’t pan out and there was finally scope to get them in.

@roughbloke’s info was that they were a replacement for Swift. I’m going to believe him because he’s been absolutely spot on about everything this year.

They could have planned Elton for Saturday and Taylor for Sunday. GNR rumoured to be doing a date Glasto Sunday right? Maybe they asked Elton if he could do Sunday instead and he adjusted his tour dates.

But also I can see Elton lightly agreeing for a long time and after Macca deciding to firm things up.

Because it went against her whole brand, that's why. People don't like hypocrites.

IDGAF if she plays Glasto or not, but this whole "you either stand with her or you're with the far right" narrative on the internet is insufferable AF.

You poor lamb I don't know how you cope.

"People don't like hypocrites", therefore over three years later everyone brings up an incident she apologised for by the next day.

Have you ever read the coverage she gets in the US?  As with many artists there, she receives a lot of bigotry via social media or from right wing commentators - see much of the coverage about the stupid flute.

This hasn't really happened though. Summer 2024 will be Tay-tastic.

Hopefully.

To be honest given she's able to fill stadiums multiple times every weekend for five solid months on the US tour, and still have huge demand for more, it's difficult to begrudge her doing it this way.

If she tried to cram both the US and Europe into the same year, then it'd mean fewer shows in each and so increased demand (and ultimately, bastard touts creaming off even more insane prices). I'm working to the assumption/hope that Europe in 2024 will be as extensive as the US dates this summer. Though in all honesty I'm less and less confident it includes Glastonbury.

Doing the US first then Europe as a second leg is a fairly standard pattern for ginormo-tours.

I agree that the G isn't as much of a lock as it maybe once was - but if she makes an exception anywhere that'll be it.

I hope so, even though I don't care for her music at all, but she is directing that film which is a lengthy process so she might not be able to tour at all next year

Maybe she'll do that over the winter this year and early next i.e. not during outdoor concert season in Europe.

Maybe, her tour this year doesn't end until August. Then she has to do pre production, principal photography, the music and editing and possibly reshoots. She'll also have to do extensive promotion but if she is touring the film would come out after the tour.

The smaller the scale of the film and the lower the budget the film the more likely she will be touring next year

Hence why I’m going for glastonbury and her own shows in 2024 and not expecting her to play both.

She is in a completely different place to where she was when she agreed to do Glasto 2020. She’s back to 1989 levels of big, and she really doesn’t need the Glasto boost.

It would be sad but it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s in no rush to come back at all. “I almost headlined glastonbury” at her brits speech… can we read into it too much? Could she be trying to tell us something!

People are forgetting that Emily has already said they’ll get her next time she comes to this country, no way she’d have said that publicly if there wasn’t some sort of agreement in place whether formal or informal.

It’s a question of integrity now, does Taylor honour the commitment she has made to the festival and return to play (Macca and Kendrick both did remember). Or does she sack it off to take the massive stadium dollar?

Not sure tbh, I think 1975 are much bigger than both of those? Foals are dull as dishwater for me.

Personal preferences aside, if we're talking UK tickets shifted, they definitely are. Played the o2 twice on each of their last 4 tours (including the upcoming one). Biffy have played it twice I think, and Foals zero (Wembley arena/Ally Pally x2 seem to be their biggest capacity gigs)

The real question is how long ago did Taylor Swift decide to reject her English fans and Glastonbury and tour America instead?

Was this before or after Elton John moved his Paris date? Before or after the Guns N Roses comment?

We will probably never know

She is a BITCH.

I don't know if you're genuinely posing this as a question but - she takes the dollar. That is the Taylor Swift way.

And I say that as someone who is a fan and is absolutely desperate for her to play, and am still genuinely gutted that it doesn't seem to be in the offing.

Yes,  probably the best chance I will have to see her is as a Glastonbury headliner, assuming any other gigs would be London based. I live in hope for 2024 .

Even those who are obsessed with the dollar surely see the obvious commercial potential of headlining the biggest festival on earth to a global audience of millions?
