Well they get to headline everything else. How many other fests do they have to headline then. Theyre going to headline Bonnaroo the week before. Also Boston Calling, Adjacent, Lollapalooza and did When When Were Young. Still not enough of a resume for them right.

American festivals are a very different thing.  Boston Calling capacity is only 40K.

Tempting.  Came over to Dublin to watch Elton John a few years ago and made a long weekend of it.  Had a blast.

And Placebo - both of whom seem like a bad fit for Download....

Tbf Pendulum headlined the download second stage in 2011 and absolutely killed it, look up the Voodoo People into Blood Sugar, absolutely banging.

Pendulum and Placebo would both be good fits for the farm.

Is that cos he's still trying to pay off his 70's coke habit?

God knows…Been asking my wife if she wants to see him for ages and every time she finds something else to spend the money on! Might eventually get to see him before he calls it quits. Won’t keep me up at night if I don’t. Had a ticket to see Bowie and he went and had a heart attack that weekend and never toured again. That one still hurts!

Do agree, though I'm wondering if they fell back on them as friends of the festival and past headliners though if rumours of other acts pulling out are true

Possibly, would love to see Blur involved again. I wonder if they have a new album on the way which would make more sense

Think I only paid about £45 a ticket for Elton at the O2. Up in the Gods but he’s only going to be sat at a piano.

Wow TIL. They always have the biggest bands on the circuit headlining year in year out. Tickets must be expensive!!

Reckon they could headline the other stage and maybe do creamfields later in the year.

they’re doing Europe festivals in June

I feel like they are more of a shout for Boomtown than Creamfields

Ha I thought I made that obvious with the name but clearly not. Guess it’s hard to tell with all the people coming in here and acting like dickheads.

Yep, made a silly comment that Neil took a dislike to and so he put my main account on ‘approval mode’ where he has to approve each and every one of my posts, which he isn’t doing, so had to make a new one to post in real time. Good times

Oh, okay, hadn't seen that, there were too many comments flying to read them all.

**immediately starts searching for the silly comment**

No pun intended given the circumstances of his cancellation, but my heart still hurts every time I think about that TiTP cancellation.

All those years of abuse on his body and he had to finally succumb TWO WEEKS BEFORE I GOT TO SEE HIM?!

I know it's selfish (and I had a great weekend regardless) but that will remain one of my great life regrets...

as there is the stuff going on that caused me to say it, some people are trying to fuck up my income, so it would only be fair to do the same back.

Ah I see you're going this route again. Once every few months.

People discussing a band that you don't like is not trolling or trying to ruin your income. Are there trolls? Yes, welcome to the internet. Stop jumping down everyone's throat that predicts GnR.

Anyway

Fri: AM

Sat: GnR

Sun: Elton.

These outbursts stink up your forums more than anything.  You create these trolls as they try and get a reaction from you again.

It’s a bit mad as Dublin used to always be really expensive for gigs. We used to go to Prague or other spots in Eastern Europe to avoid the high prices here. But the new law last year banning the sale of tickets above fave value, and by extension making dynamic pricing impossible, has all of a sudden made it great value! (Not always, it’s still €400 or so for a pair of tickets to see Elton next March!)…

that sounds fantastic

it's not that, but if it makes you feel better to believe it is, go ahead with your fantasies.

yep, but there's also nasty, there's a reason why glastonbury don't run their own forums.

I won’t lie, it really is. Took a lot of lobbying, especially from councillors in Dublin, but eventually was passed. Also made it illegal to not allow transfer of tickets, so long as it is at face value or less. Touts still sell outside venues, but they were always illegal, but it clobbered resale sites overnight.
