Camping Tips - Chronic Pain

Any tips for lasting Glastonbury’s five nights camping with arthritis?

Camped at numerous festivals in 20s but in recent years blighted by chronic pain in joints, albeit managed by medication and looking to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

On a coach package so limited space for campbeds etc.

If your budget stretches to it, Book worthy view or Sticklinch accommodation. Probably better with Sticklinch to avoid the hill climb.  You won’t have to carry a tent and it’s possible to stand up in the tent depending on how tall you are.  Have a look at it on the festival website

@sauceageroll I agree with above if you can afford, 3 of the options even include beds.

As with anything at the festival you do need to be OK walking.

Their page is offline atm, but this is the wayback machine version.

Not a sufferer myself, but I sleep very soundly on a great compact camp mattress. It's an Exped - they have lots of models available. I spent about £100 and it was well worth it. Highly recommended.

I would guess also that staying warm makes a difference, so worth considering an upgrade of sleeping bag too?

I went this year with hip arthritis and using a stick - we stayed in a Bellepad in Sticklinch and I took a blow up bed. You could just about stand up. It was a long walk though to main stage areas so didn’t manage to pop back to tent during day. The main thing was being parked in the next field so not far to carry stuff and people to help. No shuttle from gate A though if on coach.
