moogster
We all know how important supporting charities and their causes is a very important part of the festival. Have there been some charities you supported after being made aware of them the festival ? Did you sign up for Greenpeace? Do you put just a few more pounds than needed in the lock up tip box? Do you have a nice Wateraid T Shirt at home (I do). Or are you just glad a small part of your ticket money will go to support said charities. Or maybe, you don't go to Glasto to hear about the pains of the world and totally ignore that part and shower yourself in Evian every morning? Neil
yes i've become a suporter of wateraid cos i've thought about what life would be like without easy water. i try to give wateraid 10% of efestivals turnover every year, (typically £600) thanks for your support of efestivals which allows me to do that. Ayrshire Chris
I set up a monthly direct debit to wateraid years ago and added a bequest to them in our will,(hopefully they won’t get that for sometime!). Always have a chat with their representatives at the festival . I would say the festival does a great job in raising awareness of the charities.
westholtschic
Certainly has. Never heard of Festival Medical Services until I joined them in 2009 and have been with them since at the farm. We are a charity and also donate money, we receive, to other causes around the world for medical equipment etc. 1

Yep I contribute to Wateraid though my salary and when my husband ran a marathon and I did a 10km run we did it for Wateraid. I wouldn't say I didn't know the charity before I went but given everyones stress about toilets at Glastonbury it does hammer home the point of how tough life without water is.

You were there even at worthy pastures.
mike46
Definitely for me. Got chatting to some Oxfam and WaterAid campaigners in my first year in 2009 and while as I naive 17 year old I had heard of them I hadn’t really realised what they did. Came back and promptly set up some monthly direct debits which still go out to this day!

Thank you all at FMS. You're special.

moogster
I find it interesting how the CND is all of a sudden a much more visible cause than it was prior to this year's events. I always have to unfortunately stop the volunteers from doing their whole speech as not being a UK resident makes signing up just there and then trickier. I do my part in other ways and just pitch in at the festival itself if possible, through purchases or direct donation. Edit: or by having breakfast every single day at Greenpeace like I did this year 🙂 I loved hearing ME talk about the charities in the last BBC Documentary. Gave me teary eyes. The fact that they do this to try and benefit the world is certainly what makes it not just another festival and I get quite irritated when people say it shouldn't be about politics because to me that is someone no getting the festival at all. The ethos of putting on this great party with a purpose is very much what Glastonbury is about and I think Michael and Emily do want to know that it has a positive impact on people. drunk pumpkin
it definitely does for me. I'm much more aware and willing to provide money and time to discuss and share ethos with others. Especially wateraid. This, clean water, (as you are all saying) is such a key fundamental to all humans
stuie
Glastonbury has made me a much better person. I'm much more socially aware and considerate of others situations and do what I can to help charities and those less fortunate than me. It's also helped to reinforce my hatred of the fucking Tories and fucking Brexit.
