Shangri-la and Block 9's plans were put on hold due to budget restrictions. Expect changes in there areas next year, along with Arcadia of course. BTW, Rumshack is in The Common, not Block9. Sorry yes I meant to write 'SE Corner' (slap my wrists) Will look forward to seeing how things change this year 😊 although I'm taking the kids this time so may only get one night off in the naughty corner. Acid Loafers
Block 9 & Shangri-la are run by different people, with different ideas & curating different experiences. It's a bit hard to compare because I think Block 9 has more space to play with. Block 9 has 3/4 stages (Depending how you want to count them) & 2/3 of those share one field, while IICON takes the other. (B9 East & B9 West) IICON has clearly decided to put all it's eggs into one basket, one stage, one concept. Curating each night to some extent. But the names they put on aren't the biggest out there. A bit of a music iykyk. Last year, unfortunately Genosys was a bit weak in my opinion & I think that may have had something to do in not pulling in as many people in, leaving more people than usual to wander into Shangri-la. Shangri-la has to decide how it wants to use it's space. If it's still in love with the idea of many smaller stages, huge names are going to bring crowds too big for those stages. It also depends on what people want to see. Stonebridge, Arcadia & Beat Hotel all have their own jobs to do, in finding ways to pull crowds away from the SEC. Beat Hotel is kinda fucked with it's location as for some people it's either Beat Hotel or SEC. SEC has many more stages vs just 1 at the BH. I'm hoping this year the teams will have the resources to pull out new experiences, but with the way things are going & this rise in cost of living. I'm not holding out much hopes either. I'm nostalgic for the old Gas Tower. I miss the true 360º visuals, but that stage was even smaller than the new one, so can't even imagine what would have happened if that stage hadn't been upgraded this year. But thinking back to 2017 (I didn't go in 2019), I remember Diplo played there and they don't get much bigger than him. I don't recall it being hideously packed, so I'm wondering what changed! Diplos crowd isn't really at Glastonbury though it could be argued
