Late night alternatives

Afternoon all! Long time lurker but just posting for the first time now!

I've managed to get some tickets for the 3rd year this year which is excellent news - however, I'm going with a different group of friends who aren't so much into the SE corner shenanigans. 

I've only ever really gone there for the late night entertainment so my knowledge of alternative areas / bars / stages is quite limited. 

Can we get a post going about any recommendations; Im thinking anything that's worthy of a cheesy sing along would be great.

Not gone into that thread, but this line is nonsense "I feel like pretty much everything is DJ's and electronic music after midnight"

Truth stage, The Diner and Rum Shack have bands on after midnight, although that means going into the SE corner. There's Strummerville and The Irish piano bar if you can find it (imagine they have drunken singalongs). Rabbit Hole and Bimble Inn are likely to have some bands after midnight, not sure what time Croissant Neuf closes. There are several small venues in The Tipi field and Green Futures which will have bands on after midnight and maybe venues in Theatre and Circus. It's a shame that we lost the Gully and The Blues in Silver Hayes, although the Gully may have finished at Midnight. The Glade may be worth checking out, although it's likely to be DJ's after midnight.

Don't get me wrong, they'd be fine going into the SE corner but can't imagine spending a long time in Bez's acid house for example. 

I've always been meaning to go to the Rabbit Hole though, and every year I forget so definitely a good shout. We're gonna try and get a spot in Pennards Hill if we don't manage to book a tipi so would be close to The Park.

This year we stumbled upon an indie disco in a bar behind the pyramid, between the pyramid and San Remo. It went on until 2/3am. No recollection of what it was called but that was great fun!

There’s quite a bit spread round the site these days. Not going to disclose my fave (it will get too busy!) but The Park is always a good shout. Rabbit Hole, Crows Nest etc. that’s if you can be arsed with the uphill hike!

quick research: its gotta either be that bar by the hedgerow above where it says Pyramid Stage (which i think could be the big tent bottom left or the aerial photo) OR that red tent in the aerial maybe shot

The tent by the hedge is I think the mandala bar, never known them to late night stuff. Could be wrong.

The red tent I don't recognise at all, is it interstage?

The Hop and Liquor (I think that'd be the bar just under the BBC stage in the image @gfa posted) had a disco running, often playing Indie music, sometimes playing 90's / 00's pop, and other times playing more up to date stuff. Not sure what time it closed, but it was open every time we called by, including way after midnight. 

We spent a fair amount of time in there, because they had the common sense to switch the sims in their PDQ machines to EE on the Wednesday, so were one of few bars taking card payments throughout.

Oh shit i went in there - i think its actually the building above the bbc stage so an unmarked bar (those exist right? Feel like theres way more than marked)

The Hop & Liquor is definitely marked. The only unmarked ones I can think of are some of the crew bars and the likes of the Rabbit Hole. Surely if you run a bar.... you want to attract punters?

if its behind the pyramid it might be in a restricted area that needs a wristband.

What confuses me is i thought there was a bar to the north of bbc introducing that i went into during IDLES secret set - i've looked at hop and liquor photos and it wasn't that so quite confused which it was.

Really need that aerial glasto website back that was online for about 20 minutes!!

The hop and liquor photos knocking around, with the wooden theming on the front, are from a different year. It looked very different this year, and was a much bigger marquee. Are you sure it wasn’t there?

I also thought it was North of BBC stage, coming from Other stage I feel like I remember passing BBC before getting to H&L 😕 

Edited to add: Hop and Liquor had the bar to the right end, dance floor in the middle, and to the left end was benched seating made from scaffolding. If that helps.
