This isn’t a rumour really. Well placed source of @JoeyT info fame.

oh wow - is this a few new songs, or an entire album?

i'm off to colchester on friday, as someone else said - i'd be excited to hear some new tracks but a bit gutted if it's entirely new album rollout!

New album has just been confirmed by Damon and the boys on 6 Music; called 'The Ballad of Darren'. No release date, but fully mastered and finished as of now.

*Oh shit, new single being played now too, not messing about with this comeback

The Magic Whip and The Ballad of Darren - their album names have taken a bit of a weird turn since reuniting.

Excited though, especially with how they’ve always switched up their sound between albums so no way to know what it’s gonna sound like.

I'm not a huge Blur fan (I like them a lot, but find some of their deep cuts very forgettable), but I think Damon has to go down as one of the all time great songwriters. He's written songs that fall into borderline every genre imaginable, and has experienced enormous success in two vastly different bands; he's as close to a modern day Bowie as we're ever going to get. It makes me an awful lot more excited for a new Blur album than I would be for almost any other band's comeback album after 35 years.

New single's great too, tbf

I have to agree with this, even though Blur have only done a couple of tunes I like and IMO The Good the Bad and the Queen are dreadful. Gorillaz, however, are superb, IMO by far his best work.

Probably gonna get a bunch of that premiered at the intimate shows then, which I’m sure will be great… but I’ll be a little annoyed if it’s at the expense of a bunch of their hits which is very much what I bought my ticket for.

You can't be annoyed at seeing Blur at a smaller show. Come on man. The Magic Whip was fucking amazing, the new album will be too. They will play the hits, Damon loves them!

Ha yeah feel like a little spoilt brat for saying that, but you know what I mean. I’m sure the new stuff will be ace, but having never seen them before, I want the hits, all of the hits, as many hits as possible!

But if they want to continue omitting Country House like on the last tour then I’m totally cool with that…

Has the blur to headline Glastonbury 2024 thread started yet, or is that already in Headliners 2024?..

I think they’ll continue to be a strong rumour every time they regroup, and it’ll always boil down to ‘do they want to do it again or was 2009 so perfect that they’d like to leave it as is?’. Who knows.

Yeah true. I think they would do it again, personally; but just an educated guess.

Arguably until now it was too soon for an older act not regularly together. Now its a serious possibility regardless of 2009

Friends of the festival too, so likely to be a much more affordable headliner
