Stadium Ticket Pricing

The idea of dynamic pricing is that there is no start or end - basically between now and the concert they'll periodically adjust the prices up and down (though probably more up than down) depending on current supply and demand levels and any other factors they can think of in order to gouge as much cash as they can.

In the unlikely event that say there's thousands of unsold tickets for a show a few days before, then dynamically priced tickets could drop well below "face value" in order to try and shift them - but obviously that's rare and isn't going to happen in this case.

I'm still yet to see a gig where it has dynamically priced below FV.

I was having a look at Blue's tour before chrimbo. Tickets in this one block were £28 and then a few weeks later went to £48, which I learned was face value. Didn't realise the first time they were being dynamically priced to try and shift them. Worth checking any arena act that isn't an immediate sell out.

This is the pricing for Robbie Williams’ show at Luxexpo Open Air next July… (which is not even a stadium but a temporary stage in a convention centre car park). Mad.

(for reference Arctic Monkeys are playing the week before and tickets are €73.50)

When I posted this I assumed they’d have trouble shifting these… and today they’ve announced a second show the day before. No wonder they can charge this if they sell them out

I looked at the extra Madonna date that went on sale today, got in the queue early but everything was over £250.. I can’t even remember what the base price was for a lot of the seats.. there may as well not be a base price because it’s all surge priced now.

Axs have them at face value and had some of the cheaper ones on sale.

I think at this stage it's almost on fans to stop paying this money if we don't want to be ripped off. There's a lot of artists I'd like to see but I'd have to win the lottery to justify the prices they charge. I'm resigned at the moment that my days or arena and stadium gigs are probably just over.

I'd maybe try and pay base price for some of them but this surge pricing can get in the bin as far as I am concerned.

So long as you've got just enough people willing and able to pay the stupid money, it'll keep going.  If you're selling 100,000 tickets and 100,001 can afford and will pay it, you've sold out.  Fuck the rest.
