CaledonianGonzo
Not a lot of K Pop on that list given how much NME tweet about it.

I still check out the NME site semi-regularly for general music news etc and they seem to cover a lot of K pop, like far more than you’d expect them to. Must have somebody working for them who’s very invested in it.

I’ve not yet got motivated to properly listen to either #1 or #2, am I missing out?

Respect how high up callous daoboys are, probably my favourite of the year i like nova twins but I think that’s a bit high for them Also I’m a massive architects fan but their album this year was poor, it didn’t sound great live when they were supporting biffy either. Feel like they are only on the list because of who they are

Feel like they are only on the list because of who they are By the time I got to the top of the list Pale Waves, Stand Atlantic and Boston Manor all felt very low. Architects and Slipknot's placing feels more expected than earned. I've picked up a few on here to listen to later like Daoboys, AA Williams and Soul Glo. I remember my first kerrang end of year list. It was 2002 and that's how I discovered Finch. I think up until that point they'd probably only had a teeny tiny review, so I didn't know who they were at all. Distillers as well I think. Yeh I generally check out the bands on these lists that I’m not aware of and occasionally make a good discovery. You’re right in saying bands do get on there due to expectation rather than earning which can be frustrating my most recent kerrang discovery was code orange who’s last album was incredible callous daoboys were a recommendation I picked up in the heavy releases thread in the download sub thread

IMO not really. Wet Leg's best tracks are definitely the singles. It's a perfectly good album but nothing ground breaking. AM's hasn't done much for me. I know others who love it though so perhaps at the right time and place it might get a better reception from me. I definitely had that happen with Father John Misty's album. The first time I listened it didn't do much for me but I listened to it recently again and it got a much more favourable response from me.

Thank you! In fairness I’ve already heard enough new music this year to be perfectly happy, and am optimistic for some early 2023 releases I’d most likely enjoy: Gaz Coombes, Margo Price & Lana del Rey for starters. I actually quite like Architects newest albums but this is from someone who isn’t usually an Architects fan. For me Slipknots is way too high, shouldn’t even be on the list as it’s poor. Surprised there’s no Placebo on the list too, thought the album was very good.

That's also how i discovered Finch that year and What It Is To Burn is still one of my fave albums. Saw them do the full album a few years back - absolute treat. 2loor2iller
Fantano: Lots of stuff here to get stuck in to and a bit of a switch up from most other lists, including his #1 album pick that I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of or seen included in m/any other lists.
