Future Islands won't be headlining surely.  Can't see that happening

I don't believe for one minute it could possibly be Future Islands.

Well, Metronomy have headlined Bluedot and Green Man since. Even then I never quite got why people were so upset about that one.

My other concern would be, and this applies to the Walkmen as well, that all the likeliest headliner names we've heard are those of acts who've played the festival before.

Not sure that’s an issue if it’s a good choice. 

Future Islands has come from someone on Drowned In Sound.

Would be pretty poor if true for me...but tbh even speculating for months we've struggled to come up with an inspiring list of headliners ourselves...just one of those years maybe. Sure the undercard will be the usual high quality.

Future Islands seems a weird choice considering their size unless they play Thursday.

Future Islands played Ally Pally on their last tour though? I get why some people might think they're an underwhelming booking, but I'd say they're easily big enough to headline.

If The Walkmen play they are nowhere near headline size. They'd be Garden headliners at best.

We do it every year.

"Mac Demarco not big enough to headline!"

"Michael Kiwanuka not big enough to headline!"

"King Krule not big enough to headline!"

And yet they ALWAYS draw a massive crowd and people have a great time. Just don't stress it. If the Woods headliners aren't for you, there's always something else on. The festival doesn't sell based on its Woods Stage headliners. If the acts mentioned do headline, well, I like them all and would watch them if there is nothing I'm also interested in up against them.

"Stressing" probably a poor choice of words. But there's certainly already criticism based on rumours. I guess I just hate the negativity that always gets bandied around when a line-up is announced that doesn't perfectly capture someone's taste. I have the same frustrations every year, and mostly because whatever they announce I will find so much to love in it.

Agreed, over all the years, there is always a huge amount on the lineup to love, and always some gems you have not discovered yet.  Anyway, it is hosted in such a beautiful place, so it is always a great weekend.
