Agreed. Can't see it happening for at least a couple of reasons:

• They're too big. They've sold out Gunnersbury Park two weeks before, which at c.20,000 has a bigger capacity than EotR
• Their tour dates don't quite add up. Their European leg ends in Dublin on Monday 28th August - why would they hang around a week to do an unadvertised show?

Having said that, I've got a niggling hope/feeling that ??? might be Christine and the Queens based on nothing other than their UK tour starting on 6th September, and Boygenius is no more far fetched than that.

Might it be a possibility that one of the lower billed acts then take the relatively quick journey to EoTR after performing in Bristol?

Looking particularly at Jockstrap/Amyl/Katy J Pearson/Viagra Boys.

It's not impossible but it depends how early they are at Forwards - they'd have to completely load out, take a journey Google Maps tells me is a bit more than an hour and a half in good conditions, then be loaded in by around 6.30pm.

Plus, like the Walkmen, Amyl are sub-headlining Green Man, I don't think they'd play EOTR as well.

The only thing that gives me hope for Boygenius is that EOTR might hold a special place for them. Lucy said last year it was her favourite festival and in 2018, when Lucy did a late night secret set she was joined by Julien, it was the first time that any Boygenius material was performed live. So for them it might be a sentimental full circle thing. Far-fetched? Probably, but not impossible.

Simon did make that (slightly odd) comment to the Grauniad about how Amyl would have been "perfect" but he apparently couldn't get them. Yet now here they are playing well down at a Bristol festival the same day.

Although, looking at that Forwards lineup, surely Gabriels or Ezra Collective from the Friday are more likely to make the drive over.

There's no reason Gabriels wouldn't have been announced, especially after pulling out last year.

I would guess Amyl playing Green Man so high ruled them out. As I keep saying, if they didn't share artists that high up the bill in 2021 they won't now.

Just because they didn't share acts in 2021 doesn't mean they won't do so this year or in the future - they could potentially have agreed on the basis they're not announced until after GM. Simon's comment about them did strike me as a bit odd, there could be more to it and/or it might have led the band to want to play. (Although the logistics coming from Bristol are probably still too difficult).

I agree about Gabriels, but there was no reason why Shame or the other surprises in previous years weren't announced.

Bristol Beer Factory session IPA at 4.2% is unlikely to be anything too exciting, but the previous Two Tribes stuff is pretty bland so I'm all up for a change.

Rates decidedly average across the board on Untappd doesn't it? But then I probably overrate so much on there. I'm not expecting anything amazing. Metroland was "fine" if somewhat unexciting. I'm expecting something quite similar here. We're not going to be getting DIPAs on all the taps now are we? Not like the year Lupuloid launched. That was carnage! In a good way!

Looking at my Untappd now, I apparently had a Berliner Weiss aged on Woodford reserve barrels for 3 months and infused with lime zest and aromatic bitters at one point at EOTR 2017... cool!

Any of those would be great. Or for a late night tipi set!

Though the chances of me finding out what those are in advance are almost non-existent with the phone signal on 02. I think last year I managed to get some signal Thursday afternoon when I got there, and then basically all messages delayed by a few hours randomly until Sunday evening when some signal came back again.

Not had anything by them for a while but they used to do a really hoppy 6%+ one a few years ago. Probably be some standard 4% stuff at EOTR though.
