Family Camping

Rather than hijack SNC's thread with my own questions thought it better start my own...

Taking the kids this year and so will be looking at be looking at the family camping options. Has anyone camped in Cockmill before? How quickly does it fill up? Aiming to arrive Thursday lunchtime so it'll be good to know whether to try Cockmill or just go straight to other one behind the JP.

All thoughts/impressions/advice/etc greatly appreciated.

Ta.

Cockmill is one of the very first fields to fill up - if youre not in the overnight queues on tuesday, or have a working/volunteering colleague to put your tent up for you first thing wednesday, you'll be looking for the other one.

But the other one is changing next year apparently, wicket is going to be taken over for disabled camping, so its not clear where the other kids field will be yet!

Yeah having read up I had already given up on Cockmill, will wait and see what the deal is with the other family camping.

We have taken the kids since 2017. Used Cockmill until last year

Cockmill - fills up very fast, definitely need to be there Wed and preferably in the morning. Its always busy. We initially chose it so that we were near the kids field, but then found that we were leaving the tent before the kids field opened, so ended up walking about and coming back. The hill is a killer at the end of the day with two kids in a trolley!

Wicket - Changed to Wicket this time. Got up early and spent hours queueing, only to find it was unnecessary and there was loads of room. It was busy by Wed evening, but still spaces. Much more family feel, calmer, quieter, nicer. We hardly noticed the extra walk. But we tend to pack up for the day and not come back til after headliners. We will head there again this year (be it wickets or wherever) I won't be joining the Gate A at 7am this time though! (there was no queue by 1pm when we re-entered)

Hope this helps

Adam
