I was shocked that Stormzy got nominated and nothing for Little Simz. She has won a Mercury and had another critically acclaimed album out and he had an album that wasn’t especially well received at all.

‘No Thank You’ was released too late for her to be eligible this year - I’m sure she’ll be nominated in 2024.

I get that for album of the year but for artist of the year do they have to have released something within a certain window?

I imagine so. She didn’t release anything else last year so there’s not much to judge her on.

I suppose there’s touring as well, but it always seems to be artists who release music that get nominated. (And it’s not something that most voters will have seen)

I did a music video once with a woman who had previously worked as a seat filler at the Brits. I asked how I could do that and she became cagey. I'd love to flit between those tables!

I went before after my team won a drive week at my old job.

I actually managed to sneak my way into the celeb area at the end of the show with 3 of my mates. Got to speak to a load of them, all pretty cool but not exactly A list - got some pictures with Olly Murs, Paddy McGuinness, Caroline Flack, Emma Willis, Keith Lemon which I’ll have to dig out.

Anyway, we then spotted Rihanna a few tables away and start to head over only for security to stop us and say “We know you aren’t meant to be here but left you to it as you weren’t causing any trouble but you need to leave now”. What we get for trying to approach an A lister 😄 the way they told us to leave actually turned out to be the red carpet entrance/exit. 

There were some fans hanging around for autographs and a group of about 4 or 5 girls assumed we were also famous and called us over. I told them we were Mumford and Sons (who were very new at the time) and signed their book.

To this day it still amuses me that some poor girl thinks she has Mumford and Sons autographs but actually has Dibble and Chums. 😄

Maybe it’s just my timeline but I heard more positive reviews of her album than I did of Stormzy’s which seemed to get an utterly beige reception.

Looking at its chart performance it went straight in at #1 and then sank fairly quickly. I've not heard it but I think it was largely a downbeat breakup album which maybe explains it d@bbing down outside his fanbase
