Anyone have good suggestions for a duffel bag with large wheels, Was looking at duffel bags with wheels on Google and a lot of them are really puny wheels, was looking at this one, what do you reckon.

This for Glasto?

It might be OK on a dry year on the trackway but it's not going to work in any kind of mud.

If you can, it's better on your back.

Yep agree with this. There's no wheels that come on a standard bag that would be able to cope with a muddy year.

That kind of bag is designed for something like a smooth floored airport departure lounge etc ie you wont get very far with it at Glastonbury - mud or no mud, in my opinion.

You could look into getting a shopping trolley frame with which to lash a rucksack. I'm thinking along the lines of re-creating a situation like the one below

You could look out for a second hand one. Even then, i'd be worried about the pins holding the wheels, the strength of the axler etc could you make your own? I realise that flying might be something you need to take into account.

Once loaded it will be heavy and might get bogged down if at all muddy.  Probably ok on the walkways.  I reckon mud would also get stuck in the wheel arch .  A good year and it would be ok.

It won't even be ok on the walkways - Most of the trakway panels are reasonably level to walk on, but not suited to something like this. They also have joins every ~2 metres which will cause some damage.

I think it's time to face facts - this is a futile quest.

Have to agree with that. Trackways also get covered in mud that comes off everyone’s boots. Something that’s designed for wheeling across a polished airport departure lounge isn’t built for Glastonbury

Even on a dry year it looks like hard work tbh. The clearance from the ground the wheels give looks way too small, the bottom is going to get snagged and bashed about on the hard uneven surfaces.

Best thing I ever saw used at Glastonbury was somebody who had made their own cart out of a shopping trolley with axles welded onto it and four bicycle wheels. Plenty of time to knock one up between now and the festival.

Forget the fact it has wheels, even in a dry year it will more or less function as if it doesn’t, and you’ll essentially just be dragging a heavy bag across the ground. If it’s at all muddy, then you’ll have inadvertently signed yourself up for a worlds strongest mans style endurance challenge.

I think a sort of golf trolley with a bag attached would work well as i remember pulling mine through all sorts of shit when playing harlech haha or actually just attached a golf bag and fill it with booze and theres even a place for your umbrella ha

Whilst stewarding last year, I lost count of the number of these types of wheels I picked up and binned. Avoid, rain or shine.

After the wheels fall off physically, the wheels fall off metaphorically!
