2023 - hopefully not as busy as 2022?

Officially it'll be the same numbers as last year.

There's a few factors that you'd hope will lessen it feeling quite so crowded:

1)It not being the first one back so there's a little less of an "unmissable" quality to it. So people who have staff tickets might go back to just staying for the day or two they need to rather than the full weekend I think they're technically allowed.

2)That it's the 2nd one back will also hopefully lead to a easing of people trying to bunk in. (Maybe...)

3)Security shortages are hopefully easing so they should have more staff to manage crowds and stop the above mentioned bunkers.

4) Everyone has last year's experience so they've replaced at least some of the experience lost by people leaving the sector over the pandemic.

5)They also got told to change their risk assessments to look at crowd draw by the council when scheduling acts so that should also help to learn from the issues last year at park/arcadia/Williams  green/avalon.

6) Possibly more food vendors will come back to the scene after having done a year and being able to pay Glastonburys fees so the queues might be a little shorter at stalls.

oxfam previously had wristbands with qr codes that got scanned in and out ... so removed the issues around pass out scams

ah got you now

Only some crew have this, we don 't

spare pass outs go for quite a lot of cash

Shambala have had the QR codes for a long time now, for both crew and punters

It was planned for 2020 so maybe this year it will be.

That’s the problem they are trying to solve.  There should be no such thing as a spare pass out! It enables wristbands to be slipped off and taken out of the festival to get extra people in.

Yes, that’s the right page.

We have a thread for volunteering posts which may interest you.

In an ideal world yes, however it does happen for various reasons.

The photos on the tickets should help if the gate steward is on the ball, however crew tickets don't have a photo.

BoomTown had it as well and despite a lot of skepticism at the beginning (it was used for payments on site as well), it worked pretty seamlessly.

Boomtown’s effort last year was to cream a commission from all of the traders and to monitor everyone’s purchases.  They’ve had codes on their bands to track entry and exit for many years before they went all controlling!
