I’m repeating myself from earlier on in the thread, but as silly as things like Bastille on WG are, those people who turn up are being kept away from other areas and helping them to be less busy, even though there are plenty of other oversubscribed things on Thursday anyway.

Just changing WG up and putting smaller acts on there on a Thursday isn’t a solution in itself, it’s just going to push the problem elsewhere on site, it needs to go hand in hand with other changes.

Would their license permit them to open up a few of the tents on the Thursday evening? It would be an interesting solution if the WG was replaced by the JP, Acoustic and Avalon that evening!

Pretty certain they all count as main stages so they'd be outside the Thu licence

Past couple of festivals the Circus tent has opened on Thursday evening, so they are trying. And yes, it was full last year.

Different festival, different time, different place etc. but I remember Bestival used to have a Thursday headliner in the big top which was very similar to the JP, so these things aren’t impossible, I guess it would just need buy in from residents to get the licence changed.

Many festivals have thursday headliners to get people through the gate early. IOW and most of the Superstruct camping ones do.

Boardmasters has a massive (biggest in Europe i think) silent disco on thursdays at their main stage with probably 10k+ headphones. Maybe glasto could look at doing something like this, based off Reading festival (which has no late license) it seems silent discos get around the noise curfew there. Sure its not proper entertainment but it would help manage crowds

I think they’ve had silent discos in the past at various venues, I think they’ve had them at Cineramageddon, but actually maybe they was for the films.

I've heard that too - but not quite the same scale as 10,000+ people

I'm sure it would be popular too, maybe put it up at the park (they can be quite loud i think!)

There used to be a pretty big silent disco in the Park on the Thursday night (I think it was Thursday).
