Areas that would benefit from a "revamp"

Not necessarily a revamp, but some areas were seriously lacking last year. Block 9 was just a queue for Downlow.

Hopefully they're able to rebuild what was lost during the long period of storage over Covid.

Apart from IICON!

I think last year was all about getting up and running again.  Area budgets were either frozen or cut.

They still brought in the new Glade stage, Lonely Hearts Club and in 2019 we got IICON.

Not much that could have been done about Genosys last year.

I have faith in them and I'm excited to see what they bring this year.

NYC Downlow. It's 16 years old. Let's do something different.

It's not going anywhere.

As the queues suggest, it's still mighty popular.

They could at least change the look of it from outside. Ultimately it’s a gay club with good DJs, which is why people queue to get into it. The venue itself is very old and could do with a new concept.

Shangri-La is no longer the edgy, exciting experience it was in 2011. A lot of the political theming is important but it no longer has that "anything could happen" feeling it's had in years gone by.

Involvement in the Qatar World Cup aside (if we held firm to those principals, we'd have half a festival with hardly any punters), Arcadia definitely needs a retool. I think I'd prefer a hanger-style area dedicated to electronica over the same fire and lightning from the spider, crane or helicopter.

It also gives marginalised groups a safe space for free expression and creativity. It's not for everyone because it wasn't designed for everyone in mind. It's a Glastonbury staple, as important as anywhere on site, if the ethos of the festival is as true as is suggested.

It's quite perfect, just the way it is.

Block 9 budget this year will go on Genosys rebuild I reckon, or a new venue to replace Genosys and London Underground.

Get stuff going on in silver Hayes until the late hours again, need a alternative to south east

Lonely Hearts and Wow run until 3am last year but sound levels are limited over that side of the festival.

Let's get some more queer spaces and leave NYC for the tourists.

I have to say I thought it was better last year. Essentially it’ll always be playing that type of music but the layout definitely felt a bit better.

That’ll develop in time … love saves the day people takeover last year and with that will come creativity

Unless SH suddenly gets a big budget increase there isn’t much you can do with it. The flat horizon doesn’t help, but you can’t really do much about that without the budget to build some big instillations to replace the standard festival tents they have. If you could do that you’d greatly enhance the character of the area, but otherwise it would be a struggle.

SH - build a hanger or lets see what team love do, hopefully can get some big acts there to draw people over from the SE corner, it certainly has the space to get some decent crowds late night. Really liked the wow tent 🙂

Unfairground is dire - without a doubt the most in need of TLC

Block9 is fine - once Genosys is sorted out this year it will be back to usual

Just been looking at love saves the day festival and they have some pretty impressive stages …. Presumably they don’t own them but it wouldn’t be so much of an issue swapping a few of the older areas out and bringing these in

I think they do own them, they have this cool one but not sure they'd want to bring too much as it would almost be like setting up a mini LSTD inside glasto and could hurt their own sales etc

Let’s hope so, but didn’t we lose the Blues last year? Which was the best part of SH anyway, so what with their new stage, net/net we’re still no further forward in making it an area with a bit more character.
