I sometimes wonder what this bloke gets up to the rest of the year

I like to think he's just like the rest of us, an accountant or something, just waiting for his one week a year.

more than likely .... its a great chance to express yourself and be out of your normal zone

There's a lot of content out there. I'll only mention professionally released stuff, not homebrew, otherwise it'll take until the festival just to compile a list. There's 3 "proper" released films:

1. Glastonbury Fayre - covers the 1971 event, which obviously was hugely different. Can be found on various paid streaming services, though tbh can be skipped.

2. Glastonbury The Movie - released in 1996, covers the 1993 festival. It comes in two versions - the original one, and also a much newer cut called "in flashback" with some different footage and a more chronological approach. The "in flashback" version can be watched here for free.

3. Glastonbury - a film released in cinemas in 2006. Covers mostly the 03 and 04 festivals I think with stuff from other years. Seems to be a bit more difficult to find.

There's also a load of other documentary type content. Glastonbury After Hours you're aware of and is a bit different from the others. You also named Glastonbury 50 Years and Counting which was released recently and is the most current incarnation of the material the BBC "recycle" every few years - there was also a "Glastonbury at 40" from a few years before but can be considered superseded unless you're a total completist.

Finally, and maybe most interestingly, there's the peripheral stuff about stuff that's part of / linked to / surrounding the festival - there's a documentary about Lost Vagueness (the predecessor of Shangri La) called Lost In Vagueness, a documentary about Joe Rush of the Mutoid Waste Company who do various things at the festival, called I Am A Mutoid. There's also a documentary about Michael Eavis including some behind the scenes stuff from the early 90s called Glastonbury Man.

The above is in no way definitive. There'll be stuff I've forgotten, and stuff I never heard of. If you do watch all of the above you might start to spot the same footage used on various occasions because of the relative lack of cameras in the properly olden days.

What a star you are, thank you

Had never seen Glastonbury man before so thanks for that. Amusing listening to Emily say she'll never take over and Michael saying Oasis are now nothing after a recent release

I lost my 'Glastonbury - 2006' DVD about 10 years ago and last summer I had to re-buy it on DVD off ebay as I just couldn't find it online anywhere (and wanted to watch it again) - luckily I picked it up for about £3-£4 inc postage. 🙂

The BBC did show it as part of their 2020 "coverage" - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0079290

So I've got a decent quality rip from that - but yeah it seems to be largely missing from most places.

I remember the DVD as being quite innovative in that it supported a certain amount of interactivity - so if you didn't like the song coming up you could theoretically substitute another one in (from a choice of 3 or 4). Unfortunately not many DVDs took advantage of that feature, so not all DVD players bothered to support it.
