Line Up Announced

Let's be honest Cat Stevens will be dull as dishwater for 75 minutes on the Pyramid Stage. People only know a couple of songs and they are hardly songs to get the old Glastonbury Sunday afternoon legends crowd up and dancing. I have never once danced around the room to Morning Has Broken - not once! Sure let him play the Acoustic or Avalon stage but not the Pyramid Stage and certainly not the legends spot.

Apologies if this has been mentioned already - but there is tons of crossover between 2023 and 2014!

One of my crew commented on how similar the lineup is to the last time they went. I thought they must be exaggerating, but Lana, Blondie, Manics, Royal Blood, War on Drugs, Rudimental, Kelis, Goldfrapp, Chvrches, Beth Orton, and Young Fathers does seem like quite a lot.

i'm amazed that so many don't know him?

Doesn't have an outsized pop culture presence - especially among younger generations - partly on account of dropping out of music for a couple decades, and his catalog sits a couple notches below other singer/songwriter 'legends' like Dylan, Joni, Paul Simon, etc from that era. I really don't get what's so surprising?

It's essential music for anyone who loves music. As clsssic as it gets with superb production.

Folk who go every year can afford to take the long view:

"It's a step down, but still a pretty big name. Look at the run we've had recently and next year we could easily get the Spice Girls or Cher"

Folk coming for the first time or as a one off.......I can understand feeling a bit hard done by.

He's not done much to keep in the public eye.  Most other legends have people covering their songs, their music in adverts, high profile shows and interviews, etc

He's opted to be more low key.  Folk not really knowing him was inevitable

Lots of his songs have been covered

In 2008 Neil Diamond was the Legend. Later that day Leonard Cohen took to the stage. I think we all know which one is still spoken about as a legend. It doesn’t have to be security guards and flash mobs to make a special Sunday afternoon. I think Yusuf/Cat Stevens has every chance of feeling as good as Leonard Cohen. And I think Blondie will also be great. But in a decade or more I won’t have to use google to remind myself who the official legend was in 2023.

By the way, I went to watch Neil Diamond and then went for a beer by the Acoustic. I only ended up seeing LC because I took a long route to Park and hoped to hear Hallelujah. I was transfixed by LC and never got to the Park!

The only thing that makes more excited than seeing Cat Stevens at Glasto is knowing that everyone posting "Who the fuck is Cat Stevens?!" will be somewhere else.

Still reckon it'll be mobbed cos all the stall holders will come to watch.
