I THINK HE MIGHT SEE RELIGIOUS SONGS AS AN OBLIGATION.

I agree. Morning has Broken has to be a cert. Maybe he'll ask Rick Wakeman to play the piano accompaniment.

Wow. Slight kneejerk reactions here.

This was the setlist from his last London show https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/yusuf-islam/2016/shaftesbury-theatre-london-england-5bfa67ec.html

And this was the setlist from the one before https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/yusuf-islam/2014/eventim-apollo-london-england-33cc0041.html

Mind you all the women were in the circle, while the men were downstairs. And the support act was a public stoning of a blasphemer.

...no, obviously not. The man is an entertainer. Whatever his religious beliefs (and I'm an atheist, so they're ALL the same to me) he's in showbiz. I saw him in 2014, not having expected to like him. He put on a great show. Because that's his business. He'll play to his audience. That's ultimately how, with 55 years in said show business, he'll still sell out the Royal Albert Hall.

I will 100% be there. Not a ‘fun’ legend like Kylie but certainly in my opinion a legend and a great booking for the festival. I think folk were looking for a Robbie Williams, Duran Duran style booking for the legend slot and that’s disappointed them

id love to see Annie Lennox as legend or at least somewhere on the bill. Still got an incredible voice.

its comments like these that cause him to not play many shows, everytime hes in the public eye, its these things which get said.

Why's it idiotic to wonder whether he'll play any of his religious material at Glastonbury?

There's wondering about religious songs, abd there's talk about a fatwa.

I think much of the debate centres on how you define legend. And, as always, those definitions are determined by which side of the Atlantic you’re on.

Oxford English Dictionary
an extremely famous person, especially in a particular field.

Merriam Webster
a person that inspires legends

It seems to me the British definition is far more based on their own merit, on their own expertise. With the emphasis on their field, the legend status comes from them. The American definition implies an element of mythologising and that status is bestowed upon 'the legend' by a third party.

One definition possibly sees a Kylie fit the narrative, the other definition maybe a little more Cat

Gary Delaney
Someone who returns from the bar with crisps

The contributors to Setlist FM must be amongst the most pedantic people in the world but even for them, listing songs performed by Yusef as "Cat Stevens Cover" seems extreme.

Absolutely not. Terrible booking for a 'legends' spot. Let's be honest, how many people actually know any of his songs? He will come on to a huge reception, play a song people half know and it will be downhill from the first song. He'll then proceed to play an hour of songs to send most of the crowd asleep and then the big finish with Peace Train (which again how many people actually know). Forget that rubbish. I'll be over at Avalon watching The Proclaimers with a cider!

proclaimers? do you know something I dont, Would love this to be true !!

No sorry. Just using old Craig and Charlie as an example of what I may be watching elsewhere at the same time as Cat Stevens sends 95% of the Pyramid Stage crowd to sleep.

if the proclaimers stopped shouting theyd be sending me to sleep.

Are the Hu likely to clash?  They seem set for Sunday afternoon too - would love to see them both

Although nothing’s confirmed, the way the WH poster is laid out combined with the available dates of acts we know certainly suggests that it’s in Fri, Sat, Sun, Fr, Sat, Sun… order, in which case The Hu look to clash with Cat, which is a shame.
