It seems he’s down for Other headliner on Friday.

what do people here think? Will anyone from here be going?

i’m keen for Chvrches and Fred Again there Friday night but i’m not convinced i’d be able to stay through to the end

I mean, I’ve lived in Africa and I LOVED the Afrobeats that everyone was playing, but I’ve been listening to his stuff on YouTube and i can’t tell one track from another…

I guess I can always abort and go early to the SE corner if i’m not feeling it 🤷‍♂️

It speaks volumes that there wasn’t already an existing thread about him…(Fred Again who is subbing has his own 15 page thread)
 

Maybe that says something about our (eFests) demographic but I’m not sure that’s all it is 🤷‍♂️

Cool booking - shame that night is clash central for me otherwise I'd be looking forward to seeing him. I think it would have been received more warmly if he was subbing, but he's definitely big enough to headline IMO.

Wasn't a peep on here - before or after - in 2022 re. Burna Boy playing, but it looked decent.

It’s not quite like for like since he was only subbing (for Megan Thee Stallion) but you’re right it did look decent.

Wizkid should be a sub really imo

Burna Boy is definitely bigger now than Wizkid is i think, just have to look at how their london stadium shows have each sold. think wizkid has stagnated now, burna boy's album did very well

I'll be going to see him, one of my must sees. He's a global star and his only other UK date is a stadium, quite why some people think he should be going on in the daylight I don't know.

BLACKPINK are a global megastar and only other date is a similar size but i don't think many expect them to be other headliner for a similar reason - his fanbase is just not at glasto. Obviously booking him is a good way to change that.

The tottenham date is selling poorly, worse than Burna Boy's london stadium date and he subbed

Both are very much london centric acts as well, don't think they sell nearly as much outside the capital.

Not for me tbh but I’m hoping that it’s actually Fred Again headlining rather than wizkid.

Which means it will avoid my biggest clash of Royal blood and Fred again !

I would expect blackpink to headline the other if booked. Regardless of their standing with the Glastonbury crowd they're not going to play unless they have a high placing because of their international status. Same as WizKid. Neither nor their teams will be thinking, I wonder if my specific appeal to this festival may not justify this slot. 

So it's either you book those acts and give them a slot that raises a few eyebrows or you don't have them at all.

The thing is, where do you put him?

To headline the other, he is at a certain level. 

3rd down, or sub the pyramid? That'd guarantee a crowd at least.

Either of those would have been better for him, can't be nice playing to a handful of people

I watched the set on iPlayer and it looked busier than that picture. Looks like his crowd was on the smaller side but they seemed up for it.

Well the lack of discussion about him pre-festival speaks for itself really.  I mean, an Other Headliner who doesn't even run to two pages?  And the talk about placing - he's not really the same audience as Arctic Monkeys is he?  Or anyone else at the time.  So I can't see that the placing was to blame if he really is the level of an other headliner.  But maybe I'm missing something?

Ridiculous placement with the most predictable outcome. surely no one is surprised with the small crowd?

great to have him at the festival but just not in that placement.
