They're not going to go around the festival privatising the stages and the tents? How does someone in your opinion act openly "Tory"? Maybe belittling people in crowds, chanting something childish at people, sending them a snowflake meme? This is the point being made: if someone is openly Tory at Glastonbury, they will be met with an equal and opposite force. If they start spouting nonsense, they'll get told why they are stupid. If they start shouting, they will be shouted back at. Things that, in the real world, they may not be used to. Hence people might advise, maybe keep quiet about it. If you're happy being met with equal and opposite force then by all means knock yourself out. If you don't want that, maybe keep it to yourself. Because you're out of your depth. Quote to remind them that they're not liked Nope. They are liked. Quote and shouldn't say or act how they would normally. If they would normally go about being loudly Tory and chanting the Tory manifesto, yes, we don't want them acting that way. If they'd normally be dicks because they don't believe in helping others than yes, we don't want them acting that way either. We want people to pick up others that fall over in the crowd. If, like 99.9% of people, their party political affiliation has 0% influence on how they act day to day, then it really doesn't matter either way. stuie
This is hurting my head. You can't see them or identify them but despite this, you may subdue them and remind them they are not liked. OK. Got it.

Definitely Lottery Winners. In fact my wife, son and I are going to see them tomorrow night in Leeds. I'd heard good things about for them for quite some time, then managed to see them at Live in Leeds last October. They were certainly worth the hype and good press. Great pop/indie rock songs and one of the most engaging bands I've ever seen. My chest hurt from laughing so much!

But I've asked you three times to tell me what it actually looks like in your head and you've not done so. How do most Tories act at Glasto? By not mentioning it and "keeping their heads down." How do most Labour voters act at Glasto? By not mentioning it and "keeping their heads down." For someone to be identifiably Tory at Glasto, they must be doing so *loudly* otherwise we wouldn't know. I'm happy to concede I might be missing something, but you gotta give me something here. What's the "Tory behaviour" you think should be allowed but we are saying should be discouraged? Specific, actual, behaviour. Not philosophical "right to be your whole authentic self" bollocks. Behaviours that would mark someone out as a Tory that wouldn't upset anyone else and would realistically happen at a festival. Because I'm drawing a blank mate. Enkidu
cba reading through the whole thread but regarding the tory stuff: Although it may seem a paradox, Popper was right when he said that intolerance should not be tolerated. It's easy for some (usually middle-class white people) to be dismissive and just say "Oh well, we're all entitled to our opinions! 🙂" but when those "opinions" are supporting political parties & ideologies that cause death, poverty and suffering to millions of people... then I think it is right to treat those people like shit. Fact is if you're still supporting the tories after everything they've done, then you're probably a piece of shit and should not be treated well at all. If I walked into my local pubs wearing a nazi uniform I'd no doubt be ostracised by the people in there - why should we not do the same for supporters of other cruel right wing political parties? The idea of "live and let live" is incredibly privileged and only serves to validate and prolong evil.

Gnomicide
1,219 pages of politics here... Dive right it. Anyhoo.... I'm up for seeing Webster, Lottery Winners, Damned, Hobo, Beans, Shaw, FFS, Holy Moly, Eleanor, Neville and Vintage Trouble. Possibly others that I haven't listened to yet. None of them are absolute must sees though so I could end up missing them all but I suspect I'll be spending quite a lot if time there after only seeing one act on Avalon last year.

That being said, I have a feeling that I will be there a fair bit as I don't spend enough time there and want to change that. I do hope to see Mica Paris. She is a big draw for me. I answered you when I said that Tory voters at glasto are likely behaving just like everyone else. They're normal people who happen to vote Tory. They're not causing any trouble. Labour voters also keep their heads down? What's your definition of the idiom? Feel like you're using it in a way that's counter to its actual definition. Because that's obv not true. Anyway, it doesn't matter. There's people at the fest who are happy knowing that it's unwelcoming environment for some. It doesn't matter if you can see them or not, if they're acting Tory or not.
