Coach packing tips

Decanted spirits in plastic bottles. A few Moth cocktail cans. Keeping things to minimum, packing outfits that can be mix and matched. You'll need less than you think. Utilize the coop on site, avoid bringing a lot of food. Pack all heavier things in the rucksack, leave light things (esp anything light but bulky) to be carried in hands (bag for life for example).

If you can afford to, and intend to use public transport for festivals in future, upgrade your kit to a lighter sleeping bag and mat.

Sometimes taking a lightweight gas stove or trangia but not to glasto, the food there is so good and there's no spare time to hang about the tent like there easily is at other festivals.

Portable shower is a no no from me, prefer wet wipes or queuing for the lovely hot showers on site. If you use portable shower or any other method where the water drips to the ground, make sure your shampoo and gel are biodegradableย

I can't recommend vacuum storage bagsย enough.ย  They're a fantastic way to save space and keeps all of your clothes dry if in the unfortunate chance it's a wet one.

Stick to bringing in decanted spirits only.ย  You can get mixers on site and the weight/space saved by not taking them is worth more than the extra you'll spend on buying on site.

If you know anybody who is travelling down by car, get them to take your booze/mixers so you can pick it up off them at the car park once you've set up camp.

A collapsible bucket and a flannel getsย  you cleaner than a wet wipe wash ever will.

Fair shout.

Last year I was lucky enough to have friends who were running a stall in the green craft fields so was able to get them to take in the majority of my booze and airbed.ย  Made getting the coach so much easier.

We did the coach last year and doing so again this year (thanks to efesters helping me in the resales) - luckily two friends bagged GA resale tickets so are taking my beer, camping chair and a carrier bag of snack foods/drink for the campsite down for me.

what a dream! I think Iโ€™ll probably decant some spirits and attempt to take a few cans for around the tent (not sure I can get behind a g&t in the morning)

Wear your boots / wellies on the way in - a big bulky item you don't have to pack or carry#

Wear all of your clothes if you want to take it to the extreme!

Spirits only, get mixer when there

dont bother with cooking stuff thereโ€™s loads of great food stalls there, not cheap but only live once

agree with the vaccuum seal bagsย

Bang on here

I think eating shit food you've made yourself at camp will come sunday hurt your weekend quite a bit, its worth it getting stuff onsite even if its on the cheaper end eg meal deals

Just take enough booze for the Wednesday and then Thursday morning get the shuttle bus to either Glastonbury town centre or Shepton Mallett and stock up at the supermarkets there. ย Leave the booze in the property lock up and just take what you need each day, as it stays nice and cool there.

Since the co op, I don't bother bringing any food or mixer. Co op has cans of sprite, coke etc. Just take a few cans of cider per day for the mornings then switch to spirits and mixer later (spirits decanted into a few re-usable water bottles beforehand). Co op also has snacks like cereal bars and fruit, then use the fantastic food on site for main meals.ย

I still like taking a chair but have switched to one of those ultra lightweight ones that pack up to the size of a small loaf of bread. Still pretty comfy, you are just a little lower to the ground that the more traditional camp chairs. See tickets coaches can be hit and miss whether they let you take trolleys on the bus so I would avoid it if possible.

Don't bother bringing a portable shower or wash bucket. Go to the greenpeace showers and get a token in the morning and come back in an hour or two and your number should have been up already. Or go around 5pm and there is hardly ever a queue and you can go straight in.

You can get those 800ml shaker bottles very cheap, perfect size for a bottle of spirits and you can use them for water when empty, but it's important to note that where everyone says mixers from Co-op, note what @LR10416ย says - they're very specific and limited mixers.

I'd assumed I could get tonic but the manager (they happened to be in the shop) told me they're not allowed to sell it.ย  At that time they only had coke or something else (maybe ginger ale) and I wanted something to go with gin, so I bought sprite from a food stall which was much more expensive.ย

What's considered reasonable on the coaches, in terms of luggage? This is my first time on one on a coach. Always been in cars or minibuses previously.ย

I was thinking - camping rucksack with tent & mat attached to it, a hold all & a normal backpack. Is that reasonable?

I'll bang 8 cans or so in the hold all and give a friend in a camper one crate to take down as I tend to just use the bars most of the time there

Two litre Plastic bottle filled at home with Aldi Cognac and a hip flask is a good easy carry. Mixers are not needed. The cognac is smooth enough neat and chilled or warm is completely irrelevant in this instance.

Beers from the bars augmented with brandyย

Iโ€™ve perfected packing light over the years, I hate lugging heavy bags across site. ย Iโ€™ve got a 22litre lightweight trail pack and a decathlon 2XL pop up tent which I stuff various lighter things into (down jacket, mini blanket etc) and attach my sleeping bag with a bungee. ย Invested in a really nice thermarest which packs down tiny. ย I just take the walking boots Iโ€™m wearing, squishable pillow, mainly shorts to wear, travel towel, lots of small or flattenable things.ย

I donโ€™t take alcohol though, happy to just get that on-site.ย

As big as a bag as you can carry. Start doing some training with it as well and add weight over the upcoming weeks.ย
ย

I normally get 2 cases of cider, airbed and my tent in the bag. Stuff clothes in around the edges and then strap blanket and water bottles to the bag.ย
ย

Also have a small carry on bag for the coach with some snacks, my hat and a couple of road ciders.ย
ย

I am on the lookout for a new airbed. Something lightweight but has to be double. Iโ€™m too long to fit on a normal single bed.ย
