Any sign of Pulp yet?

A sunset w/ Richard Hawley looks like it is new. Posted a video above. Probably scans similar to old song sunrise when reading on setlist.Fm.

Isn't this a Richard Hawley song? They first performed it together at the Leadmill benefit gigs in Sheffield in 2022.

I'd convinced myself that Pulp would be headlining the Pyramid (or Other at very least!) in 2025... but there seems to be hardly any mention of them in the speculation threads or on betting sites... are the eventual headliners usually heavily-tipped by this point, and does this mean therefore that Pulp are highly unlikely?

Was sure that the 30th Anniversary of Different Class, and the 30th Anniversary of "that" Glasto set, plus Jarvis' quote that Pulp "are playing some more this year and we will play some more next year" made them massive contenders!  I personally think they are Pyramid-worthy given that The Cure headlined it in 2019.

Its the weird way "big enough to headline the Pyramid is measured" perhaps after SZA small crowd there might be a rethink.

I know that people will always get their backs up and rush to say Pulp are not big enough to headline the Pyramid.   But Pulp doing a different class themed set as a Pyramid Headliner would easily get a Dua Lipa sized crowd or bigger  and thats what should matter.

I'd put them in the category of "just about big enough"... and what gets them over the line is their "national treasure" status, in my head at least!  Would they even accept a slot headlining the Other stage, given their history with the festival?

Im kind of resigned to them not doing Glastonbury again.  I think it would have already happened on the comeback if it was going to.  FYI Glasto bookers - Prove me wrong!!!!  go on I dare you

I’d LOVE to see them headline too. I’d also take headlining Other. Caught them last year and they still sound AMAZING. Provided of course I get tickets for G, otherwise I’d prefer they come back another year ….

Yes, I saw them too, and they surpassed all expectations - the atmosphere was off-the-scale.  On a tiny anecdotal level, Common People got by far the best reaction at Dermot O'Leary's 90s DJ set last summer at Glasto at BBC Introducing... everyone went nuts (even more so than for Live Forever, Song 2...), and I remember a bunch of (I presume) South American lads pushing their way to the front and singing along like their life depended on it...!  I thought at the time that if Emily was there she'd have got Pulp signed up there and then to headline the Pyramid in '25 - LOL!

Don't see this ever happening. It would be too easy just to book Pulp as the Sunday night headliner but I don't them them giving them headline and they've done nothing in terms of tour since the comeback to suggest they would be booked above the sub point. Even with Finsbury they wouldn't offer above sub level.

Sure, but those people are wrong and should be roundly ignored.

In terms of size I'm not going to claim they'd draw the biggest crowd ever or anything like that, but it'd be decent enough and comfortably justify the booking. Short of the likes of Coldplay, Macca, and obviously Elton, but notably above acts like Arcade Fire and Metallica.

There seems to be a recentish view coming from some quarters that the festival should focus on trying to get the latest flavour of the month tik-tok favourite, and that "safe" bookings are something to be avoided. Which is utter bollocks of course. They should book whoever is going to succeed in the slot regardless of whether the act started their career 5, 15, or 50 years ago - and it'd take a fool to deny that Pulp would succeed. There's enough people that'd want to see them, and there's more than enough quality and showmanship there.

I know what you mean... especially after everyone was convinced they were the Churnups!!  Having said that... I would have been surprised if they'd appeared in 2023 as a televised Glasto set right before a comeback tour would have been giving too much away.  Like I say... the only thing which makes me doubt they'll be headlining next year is the very ominous lack of ITK rumours.  Maybe that'll change though if we get some Pulp dates with a Glasto-shaped-hole!  Here's hoping!!

To be honest no one has pushed the idea the festival should be doing things like that more than the festival team itself. We unfortunately currently have a team for Glastonbury booking that heavily needs changing and passing over.

Totally agree!!   I'm just happy if there's at least one Pyramid headliner I want to see... sadly I didn't go to any of them last year.  I'd normally be likely to see the "older" act, but I really don't like Coldplay!  (Had a great time at Acoustic with Ocean Colour Scene instead!)

As for "legacy" acts, I think having Paul McCartney and Elton back-to-back might have raised the bar deceptively high as they are 2 of the 4 best selling acts of all time.  The only old-school Top 10 best-selling acts left, who are still going, and who haven't done it before, are Queen and Madonna - I'm sure they'd put on legendary sets if they ever appear, but there's nowhere for Glasto to go after that I suppose (in terms of Glasto debuts at least) for that very top level of older acts.  If Pulp aren't considered Pyramid-worthy then there'll come a time very soon when all three headliners just feel "current"!  I'm in my mid-40s btw, so consider Rihanna and Taylor Swift, and even Eminem etc as "current" even though they've been going for about 20 years - LOL!

Problem is Jarvis tends to be at the fest in some capacity every year (solo set, DJing etc), so a GSH won't give anything away
