Any sign of Pulp yet?

I completely agree with others where they have said Pulp are equal in size to many other previous headliners. The already mentioned Cure, Arcade Fire and Metallica plus I would also add Neil Young, Bruce and even Muse if we’re talking about bands that have albums / songs that are v well known by the general public.

Also, Pulp headlining alongside Olivia Rodrigo and someone like Rihanna will give Emily her three female headliners 🧐 (Olivia, Rihanna and Candida 😁)

I'd say Metallica, The Cure, Bruce, Muse and Neil Young are all considerably bigger than Pulp.

Worldwide yes, but I reckon Pulp would pretty much hold there own against that lot at Glasto

Without doubt. And some. They'd pull a bigger crowd than Metallica, probably bigger than Muse considering how recently they've played GF and the general waning interest in them over the last decade, love the Cure but still think Pulp would be a bigger pull, and not even a comparison against Neil Young, they'd certainly eclipse him.

Unsure if I've misunderstood the OP's comments. Someone's put some alcohol in my wines.

I had high hopes for this year 😢

I don't think they are ruled out... it's just the total lack of credible rumours, or even encouraging speculation, which is bothering me!  I'm trying to think of other headliners who weren't speculated about early on... I don't think Guns n' Roses were considered as an option until Duff McKagan let it slip in a radio interview in January 2023?  Or had they been rumoured way before that point?

Someone with a good track record posted on here that they were doing it in October 2022.

There were (disgraceful) attempts to deny and discredit, but ultimately it was true.

Ah, thanks for the info... annoying though that next year's headliners are probably going to be three of the handful already mentioned then!

Tbf it was such a left field booking that it was easy to go "what the actual f**k?" and yet, all true.

Maybe that's why we're now jumping on the things like that bizarre post by a first-time user that many think might be actually closer to the truth than anticipated.

That’s fake news by the way although it’s interesting to see how much turns out to be accurate … and has been great for adding to discussion

Plus none of those acts have a Common People - They have some top tier songs but Common People is a Behemoth

Common People and Disco 2000 when you’re talking songs the general public knows and sings along to.

Do you remember the first time you heard either song?

... I just wanted to plug that one as it might be my favourite Pulp song, even if Common People & Disco 2000 are glorious.

Globally, yes. UK audience, which is the core for Pulp? Depends on who you're asking. I'd actually put Pulp above Neil Young with a UK crowd at least.

It's amazing how many people probably never listened to those songs when they came out but as you say they are now well known and loved songs. Throw in Mis-shapes & Sorted for E's & Wizz and you have half a set that everyone will know.

As some one who does not go to Glastonbury and only watches on TV, I can't believe that some do not think they are headline worthy and don't have the tunes. As a TV Glastonbury fan, I can say that lots of TV viewers will know more Pulp songs then many of the headliners Glastonbury has had.

Something Changed often gets played on the Radio X’s of this world.

My personal favourite is A Little Soul.

So I take it you don't remember the first time?

Would also say there should be space for Live Bed Show, Joyriders, and Bad Cover Version.

And if it was to be announced as a final show, then close it off with Happy Endings.

f**k it, give them an extended Cure/Springsteen length set.
