Jazz at the Festival

My brother is attending the festival on the Sunday and bringing a friend who is in his eighties and has always wanted to go to the festival. He used to play bass guitar in a band that  apparently subbed the Yard Birds back in the day. Anyway, he loves his jazz (I'm guessing traditional) and as that isn't a genre I have any interest in, I was wondering if there were any stages tucked away where he could be taken.

Look into the West Holts line up, eg Speakers Corner Quartet. You might find something. Like you, jazz leaves me cold though.

I love Jazz too and am looking for recommendations. The only act I've noticed so far is Ezra Collective but they're playing on Saturday.

West Holts always has a good smattering of Jazz over the weekend keeping with its heritage (used to be called the Jazz World Stage) I've spotted a few bits on in Corissant Neuf too so when we get a better idea of running order that's where I'd start looking

West Holts - Ezra Collective (also playing in Shangri-La)

Avalon - Hannah Williams & The Affirmations - more funky souly jazz, but defo jazz elements, lots of brass

Croissant Neuf - plantfood, Town of Cats, Colectiva (Latin, salsa jazz-inflected breaks)

Park - The Comet is Coming (space, psych jazz and unbelievable)

Rickie Lee Jones current album is a lovely tribute to jazz, covering some old classics, she’s headlining the Acoustic on Sunday but uncertain how much jazz will be in the setlist.

Theres often jazz on at The Bandstand in the market area, stoped and listended a few times, though couldn't tewll you any names 🙂

Nipped on to make sure I'm getting all the jazz. 

But for original poster, Blue Lab Beats merge electronica jazz and Afrobeat. Playing Sunday 2:30 to 3:30 at The Lonely Hearts Club, Other Stage edge of Dance Village  Silver Hayes. I'm made up to be able to catch them. Not quite last year's Herbie Hancock on the Pyramid, but it might do your guest.
