Overcrowding Predictions

You shouldn’t worry about blocking their view. Obviously if they’re right at the back of the crowd then maybe try not to stand directly in front as there should be more room further forward for you to stand, but if they’re in the thick of the crowd then they should be prepared for somebody to stand in front of them.

Agree. Husband has a terrible back and cannot stand for hours on end or sit on the ground so takes a chair whilst waiting. He fully expects to either stand when the music is on or not see anything and not be in the way. Would never have a chair deep in the mix

I can understand the chairs for a sit down in between sets but my thinking was that if you were that bothered about seeing the stage for a set you'd stand up from your camping chair. Thinking about it I don't think that I'll be at the Pyramid for any daytime sets this year so my chair-related anxiety can have some time off.

Rolling Stones crowd was dangerously over crowded where I was.

It got so bad about halfway that we bailed just to get out and have a little space. This was on the wateraid side and every possible path leading out was insanely rammed right up to and past the cider bus.

It was as if everyone was either in the field or going there.

Crazy!

Tbh you did the right thing, the best way to avoid overcrowding is to be aware of surroundings and leave when you notice it's getting too busy for you.

It's got three pillars rather than two! That's 50%, lad!

😂

Ben

Haha I just thought this technical answer too! 😂 Does 3 pillars really mean 50% bigger than 2? John Peel/woodsies tent only has 4!

We were stood at the back quite close to the path.

we planned to watch a bit and then move the 50 yards or so to the exit towards JP and watch hurts.

no chance. Couldn’t get out.

Its an extra onto the same scale tent.

Woodsies is a lot bigger despite only having 4 in general - the material and pillars are far taller / bigger

What's the etiquette with people sat on camping chairs? We wandered a bit further down from the back for Elbow last year and I stood up but felt bad for the people behind me in their camping chairs. There were so many that I would've been in front of anyone if I'd moved. If you're in a chair do you accept normal people are going to want to stand up and potentially block your view? Or should the normal people be walking so far forward that they're beyond the realms of the chairs?

I'd say screw them.  It's an outdoor festival.  If you take a chair then be prepared to have your view blocked.  Most chair dwellers in the "outer crust" tend to sit down between acts and stand when something comes on anyway.  I'd have zero guilt about standing in front of someone with working legs who chooses to sit down at a festival set.

So, surge from Churnups/Foos to Other for Fred back to Pyramid for Arctics?

It's gonna be proper f**ked.

Fred Again… and Royal Blood swapping spots would make sense. If only for the absolute meltdown Royal Blood would have.

It does seem odd, they could have just had Foos>Fred>Arctics.

It seems Royal Blood have got an attitude tho so maybe they played hardball and Fred didn't give a sh*t. He seems fairly chilled in that respect. I think I read somewhere he even requested the sundown slot on the Other.

Foos and Fred should both be cancelled before things escalate and someone gets hurt.

Nah, think there's enough space between the main stages, plus there's two routes between Pyramid and Other. Think it'll be fine. Slow and ambling, probably a good atmosphere as most people will have the same idea.

It's not Fred n Foos on Croissant Neuf and Glade or something like that.

As much as I really want to see Thread again - it's going to be like Calvin Harris at Arcadia last year, where I got there in good time and then the crowds kept arriving....more and more and I got scared and had to leave 👴😁

He'll get a big crowd, but the Other Stage is a massive area. If you go quite far back you should have room & the sound is still good. We were quite far back last year for Idles & the sound was fine.
