Chemical Brothers DJ Set at Arcadia 2023

I've seen the Chems loads... must have been at least 10 times now but its always been a 'live' set rather than 'DJ'

I've seen Arctics loads and not much interest elsewhere for the Friday night, so thinking of getting my party started early at Arcadia.

Anyone know what sort of set, or any links to what we might expect?  

Are people likely to be disappointed if they don't start chucking out the hits....

You might get a few of the hits mixed in with other songs but it will primarily be songs from various artists. I'm sure it'll be great either way but don't expect anything like the live show would be my advice!

If you've enjoyed them 10 times you will probably like it, but its not just their own songs like the live show.

Listen to their Essential mix from 2019 - should give you a good idea (but with more hits than that)

There will defo be people leaving who are disappointed expecting chems karaoke i reckon

they will definitely be dropping some hits, also expect they will be playing lots of their new stuff off the upcoming album

I want to see them, but if anything like Calvin Harris last year then it will be way too crowded. Anyone know if they have definitely made the arcadia area bigger?

Yes...we've lost our usual camping spot 'behind the park' to Arcadia crew, which in turn has meant the field with the Spider in is has even more space than usual.

I can't see it being as bad as Calvin. Right in the middle of the headliners. Arctics will pull a lot of people to them, Hot Chip will pull a lot of people wanting to have a dance and then around the same time you got Carl Cox and Four Tet.

It won't get completely rammed till the final half an hour and if your in the centre before the last hour you should be ok, arcadia seems to form a crust round the edge which is super crowded then have loads of space near the actual spider

Yeah I've noticed this at lots of stages, people bunch up at the edges but if you politely move forward there are often pockets of space. I can't remember if it's always been like that or is a post-Covid some younger people not being used to moving through crowds thing?

Not sure, i certainly moved through last year during four tet!

think in general people are polite at glasto - maybe post covid but i wouldn't say thats necessarily young people, almost all people who go to glasto would have gone to fests before 2022 due to covid roll over (think barely anyone does glasto as their first fest too)

Nah, this has always happened. Pyramid stage headliner is the worst for this. especially around the sound desk. Arcadia has always had this issue where people group up just outside of the legs and just stand there because it looks busy the further you go in. 

Chemical Brothers was the exact same in 2019. Took ages to move past the sound desk, but once you were past that bit there was loads of room.

Chemical Brothers DJ sets are generally pretty good, seen them quite a few times. Saw them play a acid version of "movin too fast" by the Artful Dodger once.

Never heard it before or since. 

If anyone has any idea on it, I'd like a copy of it!

It only had the "oh, your moving too fast, better sit back relax" vocal in it.

Have you listened to Elkka? Could be worth going for that before Chems. The DJ-kicks is excellent.
