I also got confused by the signs at one point but landed OK in the end. Some junctions had no signs after being directed a slightly different route this time. I have been driving for 30 odd years and to festivals since 2006 and not normally easily confused when navigating either. 

 

Could have been a little better I think but no major worries. 

 

What a festival, given the volume of rain before things kicked off I thought it was really well managed by a bunch of really lovely people. 

 

Second bearded for us with some mates who having been going for years including many locals and I love the place. Right up there with the best festival experiences for me and can't wait until next year.

 

Big thanks to all the posters on this thread that were also working on site helping to keep things amazing with a silly amount of rain to deal with.

The sound engineer in the meadow was a joke.  Stick the bass on full and hope it all sounds good mentality.  Absolute rubbish sound for most gigs I caught in there.  Much rather a clear whoile sound with less overall volume than a booming muddy mess, which is all they seemed trained to produce.

Sound engineer in the Woodland, well done, mass variety of music all mixed and  amplified with respect and reference to what the artists were playing. 

Pallet Stage was good too apart from not switching on the Dino Jnr vocal track, without which the vocals are not the best.  Once told to turn them on a whole lot better that gig felt.  On the music side I thought that was some of the best guitar and BASS rock production I have heard for ages. 

Future Islands floored me,  thought I was too old to ever be floored again but they took my breath away in what felt like 15 minutes. Amyl were superb.

In May the monthly average is around 67mm with 8 days rain in the month. From data I can find the previous record was around 35mm in a day. That will now be something like 73mm - but data only comes from weather stations so not exact when rainfall is localised.

Given the previous stats would anyone have planned for over twice the record rainfall and if so does that mean that for future they have to plan for 150mm in a day - cos at that level the whole thing will be cancelled.

It is an impossible situation with no right answer IMHO and 10 miles away on Sunday there was a storm that dropped 15mm in around 30 minutes. I hate to think what would have happened if that had hit the site.

Yes it's an outlier this year alright, but add that to the scatter graph and redraw the line of average / increase over time through it and it'll now look a little higher which is now where they have to plan for. I assume BT already have a plan B for a full cancellation as well.

I was thinking earlier about the stages.

What a nightmare it would have been if the Meadow hadn't been added and people were more concentrated as in the old layout.

Convoy Cabaret hosting the early acts must have been a huge help too. 

I do like it in there, usually no one i know but whenever i go in theres something interesting or entertaining going on. Friendly too.

I spent loads more time in the Convoy Cabaret this year than I normally do. Obviously the bands playing there on wednesday and thursday was a big part of that but also over the rest of the weekend. Conversely I didn't visit the dance tent once all weekend which is very unusual. We planned to go there for late saturday but coming out of woodlands after BC Camplight there was the Convoy Cabaret doing a good dance tent impression and so there we stayed!

That's what my partner said about May, which is why it's taken me so many years to finally get her to come to BT!

Btw I believe this is the first set of photos on efestivals using new improved image rendering widgets and high res viewing options - nice!
