Arriving late to campervan fields?

Hi all,

I'm not going this year due to having a 10 week old but I'm trying to distract myself by starting planning next year! I'm hoping by then he'll be old enough to stay with grandparents for a few days. As they will be working most of the week I think it would only be fair to ask them to have him say Thursday evening to Monday, meaning arriving on site sometime in the early hours of the Friday.

I had hoped to hire a camper as my other half came with me last year for the first time and there was a lot of moaning about the camping arrangements. If she is to come again next year, I think a camper is the way to go.

My question is has anyone got experience of arriving in the campervan fields from late Thursday / early Friday? Is this allowed? Is it still easy to get a pitch, etc?

I'd say your best option would be to aim for CV East Quiet as they have a couple of dedicated fields and so even if you arrive later you won't be significantly disadvantaged.

Does anyone here have any experience in arriving late? I imagine not giving that we are all such enthusiasts. 😂

I've seen late arrivals into the CV fields being put into spots nearer Ped Gate C, so you may be better off getting there later.

I arrived on Thursday morning to the East general fields in '22. My sister was already there and had saved me a spot, but this was in the far reaches of E17 so it didn't really benefit me. I'd have been no further away if I'd been put 'at the back' where I 'should' have been.

This is a cheeky little spot to aim for. I did it one year, was being directed to E16/17 and kept going straight and nipped in here. Someone moved on Friday from E16 because it was too far.

I arrived on Thursday afternoon last year.  No queue and ended up in E14.  There were only a couple rows filled up after us and there was plenty of space free.  Left on Monday afternoon and again no queue.

Exactly where we directed last year. Arrived at midday on Tuesday as well. Grim. Half an hour earlier or later and we'd likely have been golden.

For the price of hiring a CV you could also look at the price of getting pre-erected tents in worthy view / sticklinch

"Open fires are not permitted. Small barbecues can be used in these fields, but they must be at least 3m away from any vehicle and must be on stand or off the ground."
