Facebook Ticket Scams Warning

Thought i’d make a post for this as I am constantly seeing this at the moment and don’t want anyone to get caught out (I know everyone here’s fairly careful vs people who don’t do festivals / but tickets much but worth saying).

Latest scam is ticket scammers banding together and making Facebook groups, usually with a name like ‘Isle of Wight Festival 2023’ to basically act as a front for scamming. The admins are all in on it and will answer people’s questions to build trust etc but then when people are after tickets (such as with IOW which sold out somehow!), the admins will all back eachother up and collaborate with scamming people.

This is happening with all major fests on FB from what i’ve seen - and groups for next year’s fests have already been set up to build members (i’ve seen Download already). The same is happening with fan groups too - the Pulp FB one has 10k members and is ran like this with admins scamming people desperate for tickets to the shows.

So be very careful buying tickets off FB basically, I know some people will say never buy off FB etc but social media is a very good way to get cheap tickets / sold out tickets if you are after them, you just have to be very careful.

Seeing similar scams on Twitter. End of the day, buying any ticket that hasn’t come through see tickets is a huge risk. Even if you get the physical ones they can still stop you on the gate (have seen instances of this)

The language the scammers use is so predictable . 

“I have some tickets”

“I have 1-4 tickets”

“Kindly message”

”Can’t make the show”

I've met people in London and had tickets transferred into my wallet. With these wallet tickets there is no risk of being turned away at the gate as they are in your account

I've noticed it loads on the Brudenell in Leeds FB page for sold out gigs.

Scam Glastonbury Festival page on Facebook - says you have won tickets and then asks you to pay postage - Beware - has the email listed as glastonburyfestivalsss@gmail.com
