Think this is a good guess to be honest.
Would kind of spoil the surprise of their new show too and not sure they would gain much from doing it.
Coldplay did do both though - so maybe. You would think they would like some kind of warmup to be fair
Also bailed on that Sunday, conditions were horrific. Had to take our daughter home who really wasn't enjoying it. Luckily I'd already seen Rev & The Makers, Kaiser Chiefs and Paul Heaton before so wasn't too bothered about having to miss them.
Has to be Chappell really out of all that are left on the shortlist.
Feel like the criteria for selection has changed somewhat for this year compared to previous - Chappell is already massive, headlining Primavera etc. Ezra Collective & English Teacher won the last two Mercury's. Confidence Man have already released 3 albums.
It always used to be for artists tipped to breakthrough in that year - this list would've been more accurate 12 months ago.
We’ll likely never know how much of a priority it is. The other thing baffling me is Young being Saturday and Rodrigo Sunday. Other way round makes all sorts of sense but I wonder if it’s come down to when Young is available.
