I don't get how Travis Scott got back so quickly and it seems people act like nothing happened

I'm not sure I understand why the public blamed him personally for what happened at Astroworld. I know it was his festival but I'd be surprised if he was involved in much of the logistics in terms of the site layout and security side of things.

Both parties should take some responsibility for what happened of course but I'd definitely lean towards placing most of the blame on LiveNation rather than the performer who likely wasn't aware of what was happening in the crowd.

I'm open to correction if there's evidence he was informed in his earpiece or something.

I don't think he's a murderer - it's mostly how he handled the situation while performing (he literally saw an ambulance and didn't care at all) and maybe even more after. He literally showed 0 remorse or accountability or any kind of compassion towards the kids that died there

He's clearly not wholly responsible but it's hard not to conclude that he's in some part responsible, with his repeated calls to rage/encouragement of unsafe behaviours, the fact he had founded the festival and given many other performers have been successfully able to pause their shows over the years when they see something in the crowd that doesn't look right.

"Scott pleaded guilty to criminal charges related to his live performances. In 2015 at Lollapalooza in Chicago, the star was charged with disorderly conduct for encouraging fans to leap over security barricades and rush the stage, and in 2017, he was arrested for inciting a riot at a show in Bentonville, Arkansas. “Security, let ‘em through,” Scott yells in a video taken from that concert as fans flock to the stage"

might sound selfish but would prefer him to not be booked so he doesnt bring his wannabe edgelord male fans over clogging the site up. i'll be seeing some chinstrokey rate your music approved indie band from 90s at the same time.

That's fair. I didn't see much from him in the aftermath which is probably telling. He seemed to just put the head down and wait it out.

On the ambulance point though, he did stop the show when he saw it and seemed to be looking around the stage for guidance before he resumed. I don't understand how security didn't shut things down at that point. I don't want to defend him too much because he is somewhat responsible but a lot of people didn't do their jobs properly that night.

To me he’s just a business machine at the moment and I don’t even want to get into the astroworld debate. He feels artistically empty as opposed to other peers/precursors such as, yes, Kanye. I want to be proved wrong though .

I disagree although I did feel the exact same until something about his music clicked for me a few years ago. I think Rodeo and Astroworld are both very good albums and he has definitely crafted his own unique sound with the trippy, grungy psychedelic trap.

You can hear the Kanye and Kid Cudi influence in there but it doesn't quite sound like anyone else (especially not at the time either of those dropped) and even if you don't like him the artistically empty comment is unfair in my view.

Utopia is a hit for me on first listen. I'd encourage any Kanye fans to give it a listen, especially if you liked Yeezus. It's not groundbreaking but the production is excellent. Favourites so far are Hyaena, Fein, Lost Forever, Looove, Delresto and Modern Jam. K-Pop is the only obvious skip for me.

Surely headliner level and I'd say he fits Primavera, but the crowd he brings...

Hopefully they counter-program him with completely different musicians like Lana Del Rey and PJ Harvey, they did that well this year by putting Rosalia and Caroline Polachek on the Calvin Harris day so that he appeared as the odd one out and minimised the types of assholes that would likely see him in Vegas…

It looks better than Madrid at least, but the main stage is very narrow with no space for crowds to spread out. It seems a little more suited to dance stuff on first glance.

Been there once, can confirm.

As far as I remember, it’s well connected, but small-ish. KFF had 3 stages, 2 of them with limited space. Main stage area is big, but “tight”.

Curious to see what’s happening. The warehouse stage hosted a C2C night this year, maybe the things are somehow connected.

Been to Fuji Rock this weekend and a couple of acts that put on Stella performances that I’d like to see at Primavera next year were Fever 333 (not sure they’d fit the vibe though), Idles, Alexander23, Chilli Beans. (These were great and would fit in so well at Primavera however they sing in Japanese so not sure they’ve got much of a following in Europe), Itaca Band (great fun), Yard Act & Lizzo.
