Yeah but its a market radical insult to actual politics

(which as a political scientist I take personally)

I'm glad as a political scientist I assume you're educated enough to know when I say vote with their feet it's used in the context of if you like a lineup buy a ticket and if not then don't.

Last year was strong for heavier acts with Liturgy, Amenra, Turnstile, Unwound, Just Mustard, Boris and others.

This year for heavy and slightly less heavy acts I would love to see Cult of Luna, Alcest (surprising they have never performed at Primavera), Julie Christmas, Explosions in the Sky, Year of no Light, Panopticon, Russian Circles, Electric Wizard, Slow Crush, The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, PUP (at the main days this time), Slowdive, Celeste, Quicksand, Sunn O)))

Most of these are touring or with new album out.

And then of course the ultimate wish just like every year is My Bloody Valentine.

Saw Explosions in the Sky at Paredes de Coura and they were gorgeous. They'd be fab at the cupra stage.

they're PS favourites, but definitely too soon to come back again. I hope they'll skip them

I'm a massive fan but agree. Unless it was something like HV / TWFM in full like they did for Homecoming. Just think there are other names to be booked atm.

A lot of the acts discussed here feel as if they've been on tour for the past year or so already, is there anyone we might see a little fresher?

I love The Cure for example, but it's not a hugely exciting booking to see after they've been on tour for nearly two years already. There have to be some rumours of acts restarting tours/album cycles that could surprise us?

I could see Massive Attack playing for the first time in 5 years and with eg a new EP.

I'm guessing there will be loads of acts we didn't know were touring appearing, they're just hard to predict.

This year they brought Depeche mode, pet shop boys and blur, so i hope next year they bring big bands as headliners.

I Will be happy with The Cure, Justice, the strokes and the last Shadow puppets as headliners. I think they are realistic choices.

It sucks to wait until november to know the line up

Wow, it'll actually be 8 years since 2016, so TLSP comeback seems legit. Not headliner level anyway, but surely works for me

I mean, generally PS snaps headline-acts on the first leg of their tour, as long as thats possible (I'll exclude 2022 here for obvious reasons). So they would f.e. book Arcade Fire in 2017 when Everything Now was fresh out, but would not have booked them on their 2018 leg, even if they hadn't been there in 2017. When it comes to individual tours however, you wouldn't be like "hey, the Cure have been touring so much, lets skip them". They just want an artist when they attract the most attention - which is logically in the year a new album comes out.

Think Wide Awake are announcing tomorrow with probably good overlap.

as far as I understand they will announce only one act, which ist gonna be their "biggest name to date" as voted by their audience. That indicated a name they had before and as they just released EU Tourdates, my money is on Idles (which I think would be too soon to return to PS)

Would Idles have won a popular vote given how the perception seems to be that they have gone off the boil/are oversaturated? Are Idles 'Huge' and 'Biggest ever' given they have played the same festival before?

King Gizzard maybe? Fontaines DC? YYS?!

Idles played Wide Awake two years ago - can’t see it being them.
