Glasto7
It didn’t feel quite as bad as last year, but it’s the night time stuff that really needs sorting. A few people who hadn’t been since 2019 said the whole festival felt noticeably less enjoyable because of queues and crushes for absolutely everything, even the food, which they “used to just casually wander up to” But I said gone are the days of just stumbling upon a DJ set in the wee hours. Social media and apps have taken away all of the mystery, so now it becomes a scramble to get to anything remotely popular. I remember in 2013 just stumbling on a Diplo set on the Hell Stage and there being mountains of space to dance.

It's my general MO and usually a success Although this year was different as I used a clash finder and made a plan. The only failure due to crowd size was Four Tet, but as far as I could tell he was being weird and The Blessed Madonna was much better. Even if that percentage is only 30%. It's still large enough to make a difference in a way it didnt for Elton. Sorry Fuzz misread your post. Thought you were saying the majority males >35.. Out of interest do you think that the % would be higher for Harry Styles? I’m not as in touch with you on the consensus of 35-55 year olds
CaledonianGonzo
From what I can tell when I saw him there was no shortage of folk 40+ in the crowd for Hazza. Reckon Swizzle will surprise folk who think it'll just be the kids in the mix.

I don’t think she’d get an ‘Elton doing his last UK gig’ crowd but I think she’d get a very big turnout. Shes very popular and whereas casual fans won’t arse around jumping through hoops trying to get tickets for her own gig I think a lot would at least go and check her out at a festival.

Not sure if this was a common thing, but it may well have skewed the attendance figures.

I agree, I'd have loved to have seen either, but no way I was enduring 2 hours of dreadful nonsense just in case.

CaledonianGonzo
I spent 3 hours at the Arctic Monkeys in the hope that Barbra Streisand would come out and do Woman In Love - what a waste of an evening.

FuzzyDunlop
It was definitely a thing that people were there to see who the guests would be. I dont know how many were there specifically for the guests. However I heard a lot of people saying "the guests were crap weren't they?" sunnyshoes
We left Elton after a few songs as we were so far back and walked up the top path and down past Acoustic with the plan of getting to WH for Rudimental and a little stop at the bar for a cider on the way. The photo shows how quiet the T&C field was during EJ - eerily quiet!

I agree that Mr Gabriels, Flowers & Kiki Dee replacement were all very good. The other one, that was the only genuine low point in the set
