Maybe I’m bitter and wounded from years of ticket day stresses, but quite honestly I don’t believe these people should be given free tickets. If anything they offer nothing economically to the festival (save perhaps boost its profile, which isn’t really needed these days).

if I become famous and obtain free tickets, will of course change mind 😄

Don't think any of them are being given free tickets, at least not directly by the Festival, unless it's also tied into them performing or being put on someones guest list.
