The latest ensembles are interesting. Pressure rise this week bringing drier conditions before low pushes in towards the end of the week. Then pressure rise again as we go into festival week.

Showers Thurs through Sat would be of little consequence IF we then get the high building from Sunday.  All to play for.

That ties in with the bbc forecast that shows a bit of drizzle next weekend followed by drier and warmer weather towards the gates opening🙏🤞

Never trust the BBC - three times this year already they have forecast well ahead warm and sunny weather and then when it gets there it is wet and cold.

They get over excited.

Yep I'm sure I read BBC dropped using the Met Office bits and bobs in a cost saving exercise now it's pretty inaccurate.

OK, it’s time to welcome back our old friends, the Japanese.  Their well regarded model, the JMA is in agreement with the GFS and ECM, and gives us a warm and dry start to festival week.  They are more in line with the ECM, and end up with a large area of high pressure over Scandinavia by midday on Wednesday.  This would give us warm/hot weather at least to set-up day but with an increasing chance of thundery showers encroaching from the south.

If they keep that high there for the rest of the festival, we’d be in for a scorcher, but always with the risk of thundery showers from the south.    More runs needed.

Just been reviewing all the model runs. Loads of correlation.  Still "too early", but the consistency is a good sign.  For the festival 5 days we're looking at dry, lows around 13, highs around 23, little cloud, slight breeze.  In summary, perfection.

Please please please please.......

Ok, it's time. Time for the first full weather run through of 2024!

THROUGH TO GATES OPEN

There's the threat of a fair bit of rain on Saturday afternoon and evening, but it's then completely dry to gates open. Highs of 20-21 are great for any drying that might be necessary.

GATES OPEN & WEDNESDAY

Very pleasant at 17-18 and dry. Highs of 20-21 through the day.

High pressure is over the UK. Looking good.

THURSDAY

Completely dry, highs of 22.

FRIDAY

Completely dry, highs of 23.

SATURDAY

A very small amount of rain around, you wouldn't even notice it. Highs of 22.

Pressure is still in a good place, but not so commanding.

SUNDAY

Small amount of rain showing, but again this is really insignificant stuff. Highs of 21-22

image.thumb.png.0f6681aebe391c6f88e5987129f5c230.png

There is a pocket of low pressure out in the Atlantic, which is causing the small amount of rain.

SUMMARY

A pretty decent run, with perfect festival temperatures.

We do have to watch the weekend, however, we're a long way off any confidence and low pressure still lurking.

We go again at 6pm-ish!

Similar theme today from the models. Warmer dry weather this week, switching to lower pressure by Thursday (with the potential for some substantial rain) before drying up again for the festival opening.

I think the Thursday-Saturday period is the danger area - we could get unlucky with the rain or see very little.

There'd be 3 days drying time either way so i cant see mud bath conditions.
