I wonder what conspiracy theory I have signed up to ?

You might need to play a little catch up.  A lot of what I have said all through the pandemic has very much been shown to be true by the investigation and revelations in telegraph recently.  e.g. closing the schools was nothing other than politics.  A lot of stuff people got beat up for saying and thinking is now becoming the truth, is now becoming the facts.

When we get to the end of the public enquiry - a lot of stuff people dismissed as being conspiracy theories are going to be shown to be correct.

Anyway, none of that is in this thread and your making up the conspiracy bit.

You're damned if you do, and damned if you don't here Barry.  You were never going to be able to provide a convincing response to the first paragraph of my second-to-last post to you, but the 'look squirrel!' tactic you're now trying to employ won't cut it.  You were kicking up a fuss about people choosing to check whether their particular post-Glastonbury lurgy happened to be COVID, and as a result you're recruiting more members to 'Club Barry is a Nutter.'

When people stop pointless testing thinking it somehow helps anyone. It doesn’t. Bizarre.

Shut the f**k up. There is not need to even click on the thread if that's all you're going to say, for some it can still be a massive worry. Immunosuppressed people are still incredibly wary as are others, obviously you aren't and that's fine. Just keep it to yourself.

For what's it worth I caught it last year at Glastonbury and ended up with an oxygen level of 89 and I'm a fit healthy marathon runner. It can still hit hard.

Is it ok to just tell people to shut the f**k up ?  Its such a dumb response to anything.  We had this reaction all through the pandemic when anyone went slightly against the group think.  A group think that in many ways is being proven to wrong in a lot of areas we discussed a few years back.

It hit me hard as well when I got it first time even with the vaccine in 2021.  But its 2023...  Not 2021...  If you got it again you are extremely unlikely to have the same reaction and immunosuppressed people are at risk from pretty much everything floating around -  which comes back to our point - if your ill stay at home - you don't need tests for that.

No it's a reaction of frustration from someone just putting stupid antagonising responses to a thread about people catching a virus. It was completely unnecessary to make the comments.

Telling people that are immunosuppressed to just stay home is pretty awful, they can still live they understand the risks they take every single day. That's why it was a pretty decent thing @DeanoL did starting this thread to create awareness.

Fair enough Barry.  Here's my original comment, with your response.  The reader can decide whether you're a nutter:

I think you already know you can't win on this one. I've repeatedly told you that I haven't taken a COVID test post-Glastonbury, and in fact stopped doing them at all as soon as my work stopped requiring it.  I've also repeatedly pointed out that I don't just 'crack on' if I'm feeling poorly - this was the entire point of my first post: I had a doubt about my health post-Glastonbury, so showed a bit of consideration to a couple of vulnerable guys and let them choose how in-their-face I got.  All this was done without any need for a test, and I'll always do the same if I've got any reason to believe I've got any type of lurgy.  By telling everyone they've tested positive post-Glastonbury, the guys on this thread have reduced the chance of me inadvertently passing it on to some other guys who have good reason not to want to be picking up any type of lurgy: it was a reminder to me that my croaking might be more than just the result of a week of shouting/drinking/not sleeping etc.  Taking a test doesn't do anyone any harm, and you betray yourself as the nutter you are for opposing anyone who decides to.

Not sure what response I can give you.  You seem to treat testing like some sort of security blanket - as in its achieving very little you couldn't do without it and its probably saving no ones life but its make you feel warm and happy - like a toddler with a toy rabbit.  If others doing it makes you warm and fuzzy then that's good for you.  But I find the whole thing bizarre in 2023.  I find it mildly amusing you think that makes me a nutter or signing up to conspiracy theories lol.

The one positive we took from catching it at Northern Kin was (well okay, I did, then did what any good husband should do, shared his gift with his beloved....) that we should be fine for the rest of the summer 😕

at least that was 2nd time. first hit my mrs really badly ( from beatherder... pesky festivals 😄 )

Your, only covid matters, mantra is the real nutty stuff 🙂

I think my, no actually colds, flu and other nasty sh*t matters, matra is far more sensible 🙂

But then again, as we have said, you are the one with the multiple personality disorder.

Interesting.  I'm going to make you an offer you can't refuse.  If you can  work your way through my quote above and come up with any evidence to support your characterisation of my position as 'only covid matters,' then I shall back down, declare you sane and crown you as the rightful victor in this debate.

I have absolutely no idea how you're going to deal with "I'll always do the same if I've got any reason to believe I've got any type of lurgy"  and "some other guys who have good reason not to want to be picking up any type of lurgy" but you've clearly got a fertile imagination and always display the Dunkirk spirit when faced with an unwinnable argument, so fly my pretty!

(If you can't find said evidence, on the other hand, you're going to look a bit foolish as well as a nutter.)

The difference between us is, you see a point where either of us can "can win" by having an opinion / view point.  I think we view the world differently 😛

I think your inevitable ducking of my challenge has just demonstrated why I'm right: I "can win" and did win, and now you look foolish, as well as a nutter.

I won’t shut up no. It’s inevitable covid and other things will be about with that many people in one place.  If someone is so  concerned about covid then don’t go to glasto. Simples. No need for a stupid plastic lolly stick with a black line or an entire thread each and every year dedicated to the cause of covid. Strange behaviour from a strange bunch of people.

We have COVID here. Taken a test this afternoon after waking up feeling worse than we did yesterday and showing some symptoms

Ok. Remember to have a “substantial meal”, everyone home by 10pm, and don’t forget the rule of 6. We’ll be praying you pull through. 👍🏻

For the last two nights when I try to sleep my mouth consistently fills up with saliva.  I end up coughing and spluttering and have filled a few towels as the night progresses.  Weird and I’ve never had anything like this post festival.  Putting it dow to dehydration.  But maybe covid.

That sounds like tonsillitis

No COVID but I went down with horrible cold on Tuesday evening that has seen me not do much since apart from cough and blow my nose.

Had to call sick into work today which looked good after having the previous 6 off and as it stand I’m in no fit state to go in tomorrow either 😔

The reason I would test is simply that I’d be expected to come into work with a cold but expected to at least work from home if so had Covid.

I don’t really want to be at work with, or spread, either of them, but that’s how it works so I’ll take the opportunity not to spread Covid.

Also - I’ve had Covid 4 times now, probably due to the nature of my work (high levels of public contact) & I also came back from Bearded Theory with it.

I know from experience that it impacts on me much worse than any flu I’ve ever had, leaving me with breathing difficulties, extreme fatigue, and an erratic heart rate for 3-6 months afterwards each time I’ve had it.

I’m more than happy if other people test and inform me, because I’ll avoid it if I can, but I will still risk exposure in order to live my life and go to gigs, festivals and football. That’s a balance.

Anyone else get a horrid sickness bug? I thought I was just run down but this morning my girlfriend has come down with the exact same thing (she didn't go) I had a couple days ago.

Seen alot of posts about sickness bugs this year. I guess not being able to wash properly for a week spreads this stuff like wildfire
