listening back to Gideon Coe last night, he confirmed Mdou Moctar.  The band website interestingly says Williams Green 30 June.

This is now the 3rd act with Williams Green as location on their website. I don't think it's right as Mdou Moctar are on Park and Alvvays are on Woodsies on the poster.

I guess they could play both but would be odd on the same day.Screenshot_20240403_145134_Chrome.thumb.jpg.17c3ace4cf6bf6d0f8fb21c92ffc2599.jpg

All 3 are showing for 30th.

That date is correct for Alvvays, as they can only be on the Sunday. Just imagine if the WG stage is back and I can see Alvvays twice in one day...

So what is going on?

I mean, I think we're all sure that, sadly, Williams Green is not going to be back this year, but why are there now multiple listings for that venue?

It used to be quite common to play a bigger stage and WG in the same day, fond memories of frightened rabbit doing so in 2016 (I think)having forgotten about the later WG set and being absolutely smashed

I talked to the guy building stuff for Williams Green last year and there was supposed to be a stage but they ran out of time to build it.

In CarHenge or separate from it?

Can anyone else remember this? as I certainly can’t…

Pretty sure the park has had secret acts on Sunday night a couple of times.

Could be wrong, but I think there was always just speculation there was going to be a secret set because they sometimes had an early finish. I seem to remember talk of Daft Punk and Radiohead at different times. There was a story of the security telling people to leave because no-one was coming on but they wouldn't belive them.

Yes don't think there's ever been a Sunday night secret set on The Park but the Sunday night headliner is always considerably earlier than the other headliners.

in the area, sounded additional to what was there.  when I see him again I'll ask what he knows.

This makes sense as Carhenge just seemed a bit pointless last year, hopefully we will get the completed area this year.

Yeah, you're right - it's the early finish I'm thinking of.

As you're here and you know lots of stuff has there ever been a headliner slot that's a secret act?

I guess you can call William's Green two 'live bands' headlining the Thursday night as such? (2016, for example), but other than that I don't think so. (There have of course been headliners that have done separate secret sets, Mumford & Sons Pyramid & Strummerville).

thanks but i don't really count WG as a stage that counts for much, i was more-meaning the regular stages.

Franz Ferdinand replaced Babyshambles as The Park headliners in 2008 very last minute. Don't know if it was a proper secret set or that it was just so late in organising.

It was a secret set that got advertised via posters on site on the day iirc

Can we count The Chavs? Pretty sure they headlined Lost Vagueness in 2007 which was unannounced. I was there with about 30 other people. It was Tim Burgess and Car Barat with possibly Klaxons and one of Razorlight?

EDIT - Checked Wiki

The band appeared in almost full format at the 2007 Glastonbury Festival in Lost Vagueness; with Carl, Jamie and Tim. The band was missing Martin Duffy and Andy Burrows but were assisted by Anthony Rossomando, Didz Hammond and Gary Powell in their place. The band appeared on an open mic stage and turned up wearing fancy dress; only revealing themselves after one song.

Florence Welch played  a secret set in Downlow the night she headlined. Only one song if that counts as a set
