They would do it if they felt like it would go off well. Did you see they booked The Stone Roses to headline on year? At least Kate Bush was in the conversation at one point with them. Lou Reed was gonna play til he passed away. Almost had Velvet Underground one year too. Cocteau Twins cancelled a month out too in 2005. Its all those apparent too obscure acts that supposedly dont belong at the polo fields.

Jack Johnson nearly bored me to death in 2010. I dont know any of the tunes - but my god he was sh*t. 

I only stayed cos he was after Ray Davies & before Faithless / Stevie Wonder . I didnt really want to mooch much for just an hour.

Kasabian were actually pretty good on the night IMO.

Other acts have gone down worse (even if they were "better" overall)

If The Kooks had been given the golden opportunity and bumped up it would have helped them step up and - who knows - they could even have headlined a couple more times since.

But sadly the festival keeps missing a trick.
