Paul Simon was so f**king sh*t. It was unbelievable. But any day of the week I will take Robbie Williams and raise you Gorillaz. The only time in 10 trips to Pilton that the crowd had seriously diminished after 30 mins. I will never forgive Damon for that. Not even the Blur set which I was at.

The amount of people leaving the Pyramid field on Sat as I got to GnR - says that happened this Sat too.

I left about an hour into the Gorillaz

I'd love to know, somehow I missed them.

Great act on vinyl/CD etc. Best music Albarn has ever done.

I enjoyed it. Can see maybe why others didn't but we certainly had fun. Guests were insane, and at short notice was a great set

Why was Gorillaz so bad? Before my time.

No need for that!! Make me feel old.

As for the Gorillaz. I preface this with the fact I was absolutely off my head, I had to be "looked after" by my mates a few hours earlh and it's 13 years ago, so my memory might not be 100%.. but it was all a bit weird. We were pretty close to the pit - coming from the Silver Hayes (Dance Village as it was).

The set was just flat. From the start. Nowt really happened. Couldnt really work out who was on stage cos there were videos of Snoop... but he wasnt there (or was he?), and cartoons behind at times. The tunes were completely lifeless.

Overall it was a mess. Sacked it off after an hour for Fatboy Slim.

Are Kasabian the worst act to headline the Pyramid in the super fence era? They're jostling for that position with The Verve

Don't be silly. The Verve may not be the most exciting act to have played, but they delivered a solid 90 minutes. A perfectly enjoyable headliner. Not even the worst headliner that year, let alone worst act ever.

The biggest exodus I've seen at Glasto was for Kanye. Incredible. Was morto for him.

Gorillaz was #2. I was one of them.

I beg to differ - the shortest setlist from a headliner at the G since the 90s (I just checked - 12 songs!) including two rotten numbers off their new record, a flat crowd that thinned out, then as a final flourish inexplicably choosing to lay into Michael Eavis out of nowhere during the encore because Emily had to convince him to let them have the gig (Cheers for that Emily)

I agree, really enjoyed the Gorillaz but you had to know the tunes and tbf Damon has since said they didnt get the interaction part right as it was v early in the tour with the cartoon thing. I saw them again in Manchester later that year and they had nailed it by then. But all in all i loved that set still.

The Verve smashed it!

I wasn’t there but some of The Verve videos I’ve seen looked pretty good? 12 songs is disappointing though. I’ve often wondered why RA has never appeared at G in the last 5 festivals, he’s been pretty active during that period and has done other festivals. Perhaps some bad blood following that performance?
