Legends Slot 2024

I mean, if Glasto (and patrons) can turn a blind eye to Cat Stevens playing after he directly and soberly called for the death of an author and gave the wishiest-washiest excuse for saying it *several* times, would it be that much of a stretch to allow Eric to play, given that he has directly condemned his outburst and recognised he had a drug/drink problem (which he partially blamed his outburst on) and went on to become 30 years sober as a result?

In both cases, it's perhaps better to look at the modern man than the sins of his dumb utterances decades ago.

Heck, even David Bowie said this -

In one (interview), he (Bowie) told a reporter he thought “Britain could benefit from a fascist leader”. In another he said: “I believe very strongly in fascism … Adolf Hitler was one of the first rock stars.”

Not that I'd bother, but that would be lovely.

Really mess with the heads of the "picnic blanket posse".

Thinking along those lines, how about Aphex Twin.

Would love an Aphex Twin set on iicon but I'd imagine that would end up shutting down the field.

New album out. Touring the US this autumn.

Has anyone mentioned Alice Cooper yet? Easily has an hour of crowd-pleasers, and certainly known for putting on a show. Ticks the 'camp' box, but still legit great music as well. Imagine him followed by Aerosmith...

I didn't know that.

f**k him.

Invitation rescinded.

For a guy who called himself Alice, was not averse from wearing a frock and scared the sh*t out of conservative religious groups in the 70s, it's hugely disappointing.

Since he did this, the Terfs picking up on Only Women Bleed and completely missing the point of the song has been quite something.

Jeez - another one hopefully off the Bearded Theory invite list too then.

I fail to see how Field Day has managed to get Aphex twice since 2017 and Glastonbury not once in that time.

What gives?

£££

or he only likes playing festivals with Amex cardholder discounts and vip pit access.

Hasn't Eric gone full conspiracy theory tastic too...if we're judging the modern man?

Not surprised a 75 year old millionaire who's probably existed in a bubble since he was 20 doesn't have the most nuanced take on this stuff. Genuinely think it's irresponsible on the part of media outlets to keep asking old crusties about stuff like this in the name of "content", especially when their answers and the discourse around them have the power to make life even more difficult for trans people.

I've not looked into his comments too much, but from what I can tell, him questioning the effectiveness of a lockdown and asking questions of a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company doesn't really count in my book as a conspiracy theory - those topics are still discussed to this day in quite polarising forms, and he still took the vaccine twice, he just didn't like his personal side-effects.

But if we wanted to start banning people just for asking questions or criticising that's a slippery slope. How many attendees/performers of the big G still believe Trump only won in 2016 because of Russian collusion? That "conspiracy theory" was pushed for four years, investigated to the tune of between 30-40 million dollars, and came up with nowt... We're not gonna start asking for a cull of those folk too are we?!
