Yea it is

There is a weird belief from some that putting her on as a headliner will kill the festival, while forgetting that Mumford and Sons headlining didn't.

Depends what people mean by kill the festival because there is no way the most exclusive festival in the world by how hard it it is to get tickets will ever go bust over a single booking anywhere across the line up

**edit - didnt realise i was replying to something multiple comments back what a silly bugger i am!

The Mumford booking was a no brainer at the time - band who’d played the small stages, including a bunch of stuff in Greenpeace in years gone by, and were booking massive shows everywhere in the run up to a new album. At the time it was a big get and the right one for the festival too, regardless of how people felt about them then (and now)

My kind of debate.

A couple of festivals ago there was a stall, as I recall in the Greenpeace field, that sold triple cooked chips.  They were certainly not cheap (and therefore symptomatic of everything wrong with the festival obviously), but they had decent portions and I went there a couple of times as they tasted fantastic.

Triple-cooked chips. God-level stuff. My arteries love 'em.

She was trying to give fans an indication of their plans for this year after not having a female headliner last year. If Madge or whoever else pulls out then she is hardly to blame, it's hardly like she was being disingenuous or trying to hide her sexism from the world. Anyone thinking she owes them some sort of explanation if only one of the headliners is female needs to give their head a wobble.

Yep, I feel like how big a deal this has the potential to be is being wildly overestimated on here. Most people aren't taking every word Emily says and holding onto it as gospel. They're capable of recognising that words like "maybe" and "potentially" mean that something isn't guaranteed and a fluid situation sometimes changes.

The general reaction will be to see Dua Lipa front and centre plus Shania in the biggest non-headline slot and assuming the rest of the poster is reasonably balanced, that'll be enough to prevent any more than perfunctory questions about diversity.

Hell, even last year with all 4 of those slots occupied by perceived white male acts* the story went away pretty quickly.

*yes, I know GnR are more than that.

Yep. They were sadly inevitable.

Plenty on there for me, some bad clashes

And ...

There's no way Janelle Monae should be below Judas Priest, talk about insulting

And Sting ain’t subbing. Ever.

They're in Belgium Friday night. Doesn't rule them out, but makes Sunday way more likely.

Belgium to Glasto could easily be done overnight so I’d say Saturday defo still just as possible as Sunday.

Not just as possible. They're playing in Cornwall on Tuesday and I can't see them sitting around scratching their arse for three days. Not ruled out, but less likely.

Keane are playing a full on arena tour at the moment, I can see them getting a higher slot than we'd think.

And of course Sting can sub in the same way Noel gallagher, Paul Weller, Liam Gallagher and Morrissey can. Though I do think he would more suited to 3rd down, maybe after the legend.

N Dubz and S Club have both done recent arena tours, and there’s no chance either are getting that slot. There’s more to it than how many tickets they sell.

N Dubz and S Club haven't played Glastonbury a few times before and aren't headlining the abbey extravaganza this year.

I think Glastonbury will want to put them in a prominent slot, but i do agree it's more likely to be about 5th down Pyramid than 3rd down.

So we agree. No idea why you didn’t put them 5th down in your prediction in that case. 🤦‍♂️

I'm not the stubborn type 😆 i'll keep editing the clashfinder.

Would replace Madness on Friday with Keane, bring Sting down to 3rd down on Sunday, move Pulp into the Sunday sub spot and replace Pulp's secret set with Kasabian.

Reckon we’ll be lucky to get a line up as strong as this! And thanks a couple of acts listed I wasn’t aware of but fancy seeing now.

You're right. Priest should be higher up.
