VCK
If the other two headliners are pop acts what about Green Day or RHCP? Both are maybe the only two big stadium rock type acts left who have yet to do it at Pilton. I'd prefer Green Day as RHCP are notoriously bad live. RHCP a band that they don't want back generally have no choice in a year they book two female headliners. Green Day don't need to do it and I don't see them booking them again in that year. Although I saw your view on O'Rod, I like her but no way is she going to be a headliner there either in a year when they have two females headlining. It'll be a stronger year overall i think. LDR played 4th down in her current position so 3rd down Others fair. She had album success and was going to sub Kendrick also in the midst of the cancellation for the pandemic, she still didn't return to headline Pyramid, instead did Other....on a year where she sold out BST with ease as well with no support announced until late. On the other aspect, Glastonbury are all about diversity in who they book now and making a statement about it, rappers are something they have paid very close attention to. It shouldn't matter that way, but it does because they want it to.

I would argue the difference between Olivia and 2014 LDR is the mainstream single success on top of the album critical and commercial success. Born to die Video games - peaked at no 9 Born to die - peaked at no9 Summertime sadness - peaked at no4 Sour Drivers Licence - peaked at no1 and third best selling single of 2021 overall Good4u - peaked at no1 and second best selling single of 2021 overall Dejavu - peaked at no4 Ultraviolence West coast - peaked at no 21 (only top 40 single) Guts Vampire - peaked at no2

She is a pop star but you not your everyday, goodfeel, upbeat popstar. She is quite a depressing act to people who aren't a fan. I like her, earlier stuff moreso, but still agree she is a depressing act that is aquired. So from that view to still get those positions, she was never going to sell singles the same as your all round chart pop star.

I think Chems are pretty likely for Other next year, and J Hus too (carries on nicely from Wizkid/Megan Thee Stallion the past couple of years). That left me looking for a female fronted band and Wolf Alice fit that mould. They have a great relationship with the festival too so could see them getting a more prominent slot this time. Fair enough Could even go for something more like New Order / other older band, Chems and Jorja Smith in that order maybe Wonder if we will see Stereophonics crop up after the far from saints slot this year - maybe a 3rd pyramid but not too crazy for a sub/other headline i think Edited August 30, 2023 by gfa

Stereophonics wouldn't play lower than sub. Their whole thing has been that they want the headline gig at Glastonbury, which they obvs wouldn't get, but means they deffo wouldn't accept lower than sub. They're the right size for that slot, anyway.
