I think I've finally come to terms with the fact that I can't go... 

I was successful on ticket weekend. I was the only one in our group of 18 that got through and managed to buy six tickets. Very exciting!

I found out the same weekend that I was pregnant. Now, if it were 4 of 5 months, I would totally still go for it. From what I hear about being pregnant, 8 and a bit seems a bit of a stretch.... 

So now I'm planning a deck chair and projector in the garden, and inviting some mates and neighbours so I can at least watch some people get drunk.

Despite the above, I am still hella excited for the poster drop!

In other boring news...I did something a bit posh and finally invested in a shower to hook up to the caravan gas. So I'll be fresh as a daisy this year 🌼

I went and had a gait analysis done because my walking boots are giving me pain. Turns out I overpronate and need to size up considerably because of swelling. I've got some custom insoles coming which I'll pop in my current ones and toddle around with to see if it helps, otherwise I'll be in the market for a new pair.

Any reccs?

Hiking boots are a very individual thing, its a bugger to recommend any - i do a fair amount of hiking so in recent years i've stepped up from yer mid range (merrell, north face, etc, high street available) to the more expensive types - keen, scarpa, and dachstein (mail order, or specialist shops) at present.

i tend to get a couple of years wear out of them cos i use them just for hiking and festivals - and the more expensive ones are definitely more comfy and more durable. the Scarpas have been the best ones for me so far, now i've tried a couple of others i'd like to go back to them. i typically drop about £150 on a pair, go one size up and use an insole as well👍 but of course its dependant on your foot size and shape! i'd quite fancy a gait analysis as well, thats a good idea - where'd you get it done?

I think that when you are 8.5 months pregnant, it's the last place that you'll want to be!

Congrats. If it's your first then yes probably best to sit this one out. 8.5 months means there's a chance you'll actually have a baby by Glastonbury weekend. 2 of my nieces were more than 2 weeks early and 2 of my friends were 5 weeks early with their first and if you are still pregnant I can't imagine wanting to deal with the crowds and the toilets with only a couple of weeks to go.

Ooh! This is good to know. I was looking at keen and scarpa too. I went to Alexandria Sports in Portsmouth. It was a £20 deposit and the 3D printed custom foot soles were £150 (with the deposit knocked off).

Congratulations, it’d be pretty hard going at 8 and a bit months pregnant. It’ll be fab in your garden, a comfy bed at night and a lovely clean bathroom whenever you need it

Yep, the toilet is the real killer! Plus, if it was too rainy, too muddy, or too hot, it would be impossible. I did toy with the idea briefly and read a Guardian article about being pregnant at Glastonbury - apparently there is a maternity tent in the healing fields (of course there is). The article ended with one woman going into labour and having to ambulances out of there.

A useful note of caution in that tale I think!

My wife was pregnant at the last festival. Looked for the maternity tent in the healing fields during one of the blistering hot days and couldn’t find it. She was ‘only’ 4 months pregnant at the time and she found it really hard work.

Congratulations! It'll be the last place you want to be when it's 30 degrees plus and sunny all day. 

My preparation was attending the Hold Steady's London weekender. Three shows in 3 nights, a lot of drinking and a lack of sleep, got home yesterday and am still dying on the sofa. I am not currently anywhere close to match fitness!

The heat would be worse than mud I think! (not that I want to start that old debate up again!!).

I also live in Glasgow, so the journey down alone is probably enough to induce me!

I read a story of one woman who went into into labour at the festival and was arguing with festival medics that she wanted to have the baby born at Glastonbury before they insisted she went to Yeovil hospital to give birth!
