Not quite a GSH but Staves are touring next summer.  Tricky one to place, reckon they'd do well in the Park or on Avalon, maybe even Acoustic.

Played The Park in 2015 according to this...

So Metallica are suddenly doing single shows rather than two nighters. And playing Saturday in France, as well as early June in Austria. Is there a chance they're the American band that were all of a sudden available?

Unlikely, given Emily seemed to be hinting at someone out of the ordinary.

I think Metallica definitely fit the bill of out of the ordinary. That said, they don't seem to play two nights in a row, even at the same venue, so I think Glasto is very unlikely.

In Glastonbury terms, not really.  Done it once, crowd was on the modest side, no real clamour for them to do it again (unlike, say, Beyonce).

That said, I'm sure they'd be welcomed in a The Churnups type scenario

"and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year and I was like 'oh my God, this is incredible, thank God we held the slot'".

When you look at the wording of what Emily said I think it points to a solo artist rather than a band.

Would absolutely love this. Isn’t she a bit of a strange act for Glasto to book though?

Can't see why. Had some absolutely massive songs about 20 years ago, has obviously cooled off since then but would still attract a huge crowd to the Pyramid on an afternoon slot.

Not to be too much of a tin foil hat person, but what if this statement has been slightly misconstrued. She got a call from a big American artist, saying someone else available, meaning the mystery artist may not necessarily be American. She could have just been chatting to an American artist and they mention that Adele or Ed Sheeran are knocking about for example.

Like to see them or first aid kit back, park would be the best imo.

She also has a loyal fanbase and is still releasing music, she could deliver a great set perfectly balanced with huge hits and some of the new stuff - her latest album Love Sux is worth a listen, nothing ground breaking but delivers on Avril's classic sound.

Yes, I am a fan. 😄

Avril Lavigne's tour dates, plus the recent policy of booking people like Carly Rae Jepsen, make her very likely IMO.  I also wonder if there might be some Lavigne/Rodrigo coming together - both sets of dates have a suspicious hole around Glastonbury, and they are known mutual admirers.

They were on the 2020 poster and I'm pretty sure they were down for the Other stage. Could see them back there at lunchtime but Park again feels a better fit.
